2022–23 AJHL Season
The 2022–23 AJHL season was the 59th season of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). The Brooks Bandits finished the regular season in first place overall and went on to win league championship Inter Pipeline Cup and the 2023 Centennial Cup national championship. Season highlights The Brooks Bandits finished the regular season in first place overall after winning 53 of their 60 regular season games; the 2nd most wins in a season in league history. The record for most wins in a season was set by the Brooks Bandits in the 2018–19 season. The Brooks Bandits went on to win league championship Inter Pipeline Cup after defeating the Spruce Grove Saints in the finals 4 games to 1. Alberta Junior Hockey League
The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) is an Alberta-based Junior A ice hockey league that belongs to the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). It was formed as a five-team league in 1964. The 2023–24 season began with 16 teams, however 5 teams did not finish the season after it was announced that they planned to join the BCHL in the 2024–25 season. The regular season league champions receive the Dave Duchak Trophy. The playoff champions receive the Inter Pipeline Cup (previously known as the Carling O'Keefe trophy and Gas Drive Cup). The winner of the AJHL playoffs continues on to play in the Centennial Cup tournament, which determines Canadian Junior A champion. Drayton Valley Thunder
The Drayton Valley Thunder is a junior ice hockey team in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). The Thunder are members of the Canadian Junior Hockey League and are eligible to compete for the Doyle Cup and National Junior A Championship. They play in Drayton Valley, Alberta, Canada, at the Drayton Valley Omni-Plex. History In 1998, The Drayton Valley Thunder were awarded as an expansion franchise in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) and began play in the South Division for the 1998–99 season. One year after finishing sixth in the South, ahead of only their fellow expansion team Crowsnest Pass Timberwolves, the Thunder improved in their second season and won the division. The addition of other expansion teams shifted the Thunder into the North Division in 2000–01, where they won another division title. Aiden Fink
Aiden Fink (born November 24, 2004) is a Canadian college ice hockey player for Penn State University of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Playing career Junior Fink spent two seasons with the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). During the 2021–22 season, he recorded 19 goals and 34 assists in 60 games and helped the Bandits win the 2022 Centennial Cup. During the 2022–23 season, he recorded 41 goals and 56 assists in 54 games. He led the AJHL with 97 points, averaging 1.8 points per game. During the 2023 Centennial Cup, he led all players in scoring with six goals and seven assists in six games to help the Bandits win their second consecutive Centennial Cup. He was subsequently awarded the Roland Mercier Trophy as tournament MVP and also named the tournament's Top Forward and Top Scorer. Olds Grizzlys
The Olds Grizzlys are a junior A ice hockey club in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. They play in Olds, Alberta, Canada with home games at the Olds & District Sports Complex. History The Olds Grizzlys joined the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) after the Taber Golden Suns franchise relocated to Olds following the 1980–81 season. The Grizzlys were a dominant team in the AJHL in the early 1990s with three straight league championships and a Centennial Cup title as Junior A national champions, won on home ice, in 1994. Camrose Kodiaks
The Camrose Kodiaks are a Canadian Junior "A" ice hockey team in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). They play in Camrose, Alberta, Canada, with home games in the EnCana Arena, which has a seating capacity for approximately 2300 people. Okotoks Oilers
The Okotoks Oilers are a junior A ice hockey team in the BCHL based in Okotoks, Alberta. The team plays its home games at the Viking Rentals Centre. The team joined the BCHL on February 1, 2024 after defecting from the AJHL along with four other Alberta-based teams. History In June 2004, the AJHL board of governors approved the sale and relocation of the Crowsnest Pass Timberwolves franchise to Okotoks. The franchise was granted a one-year leave of absence in 2004–05 to prepare for its first season in its new home. Players from the 2003–04 Timberwolves team were loaned out to other AJHL and BCHL teams. Though dormant, the Oilers franchise was awarded the 2004–05 AJHL all-star game, which acted as a preview of the AJHL brand for the citizens of Okotoks. Blackfalds Bulldogs
The Blackfalds Bulldogs is a Junior ice hockey team that plays in the Alberta Division of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) based in Blackfalds, Alberta, Canada. Their inaugural season in Blackfalds was in 2021–22. The team is owned by Doug Quinn and Jodie Quinn. The team plays at the Eagle Builders Centre in Blackfalds. The Grande Prairie Storm is a junior A ice hockey team in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) based in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, with home games at Bonnetts Energy Centre. History The organization was founded in 1966 as the Junior Athletics as a member of the Peace Junior B Hockey League (PJHL). The team rebranded around 1972 as the Grande Prairie North Stars. When the Quesnel Millionaires and Prince George Spruce Kings joined the league in 1975, the league became the Peace-Cariboo Junior Hockey League (PCJHL).
