2022 Women's Bandy World Championship

The 2022 Women's Bandy World Championship was an international bandy tournament for women and the 11th (XI) Women's Bandy World Championship organized by the Federation of International Bandy (FIB). The event was contested by eight teams from 23 to 27 March 2022 in Åby, Växjö Municipality, Åby, Sweden. Due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia women's national bandy team, Team Russia withdrew from the tournament and although the Ukraine women's national bandy team was scheduled to participate, they had to withdraw. Team Ukraine's appearance was meant to be the Ukrainian women's bandy world debut, almost a century after women's bandy teams were first recorded to have appeared in Kharkiv, Ukraine, in 1927. Eriksson Arena
Eriksson Arena is an indoor arena for bandy situated in the forest outside Åby, Växjö Municipality, Åby in Växjö Municipality in Sweden. The arena is 9 400 m² (120×78 m), it has an inner ceiling height of 12 m and is isolated. The stands are along the long sides and has a capacity of 1 900 standing and 100 sitting spectators. The arena serves as home ice for Åby/Tjureda IF and had a building cost of 43 MSEK, of which 38,7 MSEK was provided as a loan from Växjö Municipality. On 13 November 2019, the arena was inaugurated. The arena was prized as "Arena of the year" ("årets arena") in 2019 by magazine ''Sport & Affärer''. 2023 Bandy World Championship
The 2023 Bandy World Championship was an international bandy tournament between bandy playing nations. The tournament was played in Åby, a subdivision of Växjö City in Sweden. Two separate tournaments for men's national teams and women's national teams took place. This Bandy World Championship marked an important development for the sport at the international level. For the first time the men's world championships took place at the same time and in the same arena as the Women's Bandy World Championship which served as the international female equivalent for the sport known as the 2023 Women's Bandy World Championship. Allsvenskan (literally, "The All Swedish") () is since the 2007–08 the second highest level of bandy in Sweden and comprises 24 teams in two regional groups. This change was made when Allsvenskan and Elitserien (bandy), Allsvenskan and Elitserien were cancelled and a new top-tier called Elitserien (bandy), Elitserien was created. Structure During the first two years, Allsvenskan consisted of three groups with ten teams in each, i.e. a total of 30 teams. The groups were divided geographically, in Allsvenskan Norra (North), Allsvenskan Mellersta (Mid) and Allsvenskan Södra (South). For the third season, 2009–10, Allsvenskan was restructured into two groups, Norra and Södra, with 12 teams each, so there were only 24 teams left in total.
