2022 Valenzuela Local Elections
Local elections were held in Valenzuela, Metro Manila, Valenzuela on May 9, 2022, as part of the 2022 Philippine general election, Philippine general election. Held concurrently with the national elections, the electorate voted to elect a mayor, a vice mayor, twelve city council members, and Legislative districts of Valenzuela, two district representatives to congress. Those elected took their respective offices on June 30, 2022, for a three-year-long term. 350,676 out of 443,611 registered voters voted in this election. Representative Wes Gatchalian and Vice Mayor Lorena Natividad-Borja were elected to the city's mayoralty and vice mayoralty respectively, with Gatchalian being elected to his first term and Natividad-Borja being re-elected for her second. Wes Gatchalian
Weslie "Wes" Ting Gatchalian (born August 11, 1980) is a Filipino politician who has served as the 27th mayor of Valenzuela since 2022. A member of the Nationalist People's Coalition, Gatchalian was first elected to public office in 2013, as the party-list representative of Alay Buhay Partylist, serving until 2016, where he was elected as the district representative for Valenzuela's 1st district. As a representative, Gatchalian served as House Deputy Speaker from 2020 to 2022. 2022 Philippine Local Elections
Local elections in the Philippines took place on May 9, 2022. These were conducted together with the 2022 general election for national positions. All elected positions above the barangay (village) level but below the regional level were disputed. The following 18,180 positions will be disputed: * 81 provincial governorships and vice-governorships * 782 Provincial Board ( Sangguniang Panlalawigan) members * 1,634 mayorships and vice-mayorships * 13,558 city and municipal councilors ( Sangguniang Panlungsod and Sangguniang Bayan) The elective positions in the Bangsamoro was originally scheduled to be held with these elections, but was postponed to 2025, concurrently with the 2025 elections. The multiple non-transferable vote (MNTV) is a group of voting system, in which voters elect several representatives at once, with each voter having more than one vote. MNTV uses multi-member electoral districts or only one district, which contains all voters, which is used to provide at-large representation.
