2022 Serbian General Election
General elections were held in Serbia on 3 April 2022 to elect both the president of Serbia and members of the National Assembly. Initially, parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held in 2024; however, in October 2020 president Aleksandar Vučić said that snap parliamentary elections would be held in or before April 2022. In addition to the general elections, local elections were held simultaneously in 12 municipalities and 2 cities, including Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) came to power after the 2012 election when it formed a coalition government with the Socialist Party of Serbia. SNS won a supermajority of seats following the 2020 parliamentary election, which was boycotted by the major opposition Alliance for Serbia coalition that claimed that the election would not be free and fair. Percentage Point
A percentage point or percent point is the unit (measurement), unit for the difference (mathematics), arithmetic difference between two percentages. For example, moving up from 40 percent to 44 percent is an increase of 4 percentage points (although it is a 10-percent increase in the quantity being measured, if the total amount remains the same). In written text, the unit (the percentage point) is usually either written out, or abbreviated as ''pp'', ''p.p.'', or ''%pt.'' to avoid confusion with percentage increase or decrease in the actual quantity. Dveri
The Serbian Movement Dveri (), commonly just known as Dveri (), is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Serbia. Its current president since 2024 is Ivan Kostić, who succeeded Boško Obradović, one of the co-founders of the party. Formed as a youth-orientated political organisation in 1999, it published an eponymous student magazine that promoted clerical and nationalist content. Through the 2000s, it operated as a non-governmental organisation that campaigned in favour of Christian right views, that included opposition to abortion and opposition to gay rights. Dveri took part in the 2012 elections where it failed to obtain any seats in the National Assembly, although in the 2016 elections it entered the National Assembly in a joint list with the Democratic Party of Serbia, obtaining 13 seats in total, 7 of which belonged to Dveri. Ana Brnabić
Ana Brnabić ( sr-cyr, Ана Брнабић, ; born 28 September 1975) is a Serbian politician serving as president of the National Assembly of Serbia since 2024. A member of the Serbian Progressive Party, she previously served as prime minister of Serbia from 2017 to 2024. She was the first woman, first openly gay, and longest-serving person to hold the office of Prime Minister. She entered government as the minister of public administration and local self-government from 11 August 2016 until 29 June 2017, under prime minister Aleksandar Vučić and acting prime minister Ivica Dačić. Shaip Kamberi ( ''Šaip Kamberi''; born 15 October 1964) is a Serbian politician. An ethnic Albanian, he has led the Party for Democratic Action since 2018, and has been an MP since 2020, a role he previously held between 2014 and 2016. Previously, he has served as the president of the Municipality of Bujanovac from 2008 to 2012 and from 2016 to 2020. Sulejman Ugljanin (; sr-cyrl, Сулејман Угљанин; born 20 November 1953) is a Serbian politician. An ethnic Bosniak, he has led the Party of Democratic Action of Sandžak since its establishment in 1990. Ugljanin was previously the president of the Bosniak National Council and a deputy in the National Assembly. Usame Zukorlić ( sr-cyrl, Усаме Зукорлић; born 1992) is a Serbian politician and economist serving as minister without portfolio since 2024. He was previously a member of the National Assembly from 2022 to 2024. An ethnic Bosniak, he has been the president of the Justice and Reconciliation Party since 2021. István Pásztor (politician)
István Pásztor (; ; 20 August 1956 – 30 October 2023) was a Serbian politician who served as the president of the Assembly of Vojvodina from 2012 until his death in 2023. An ethnic Hungarian, he led the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians from 2008 to 2023. Biography István Pásztor was born in Novi Kneževac, SAP Vojvodina on 20 August 1956. He graduated from the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Law. In his later years, Pásztor was the chairman of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians and president of the Assembly of Vojvodina. He was once a leader of the Hungarian Coalition, which also included two other ethnic Hungarian political parties in Serbia. Pásztor was the candidate of the Hungarian Coalition in the 2008 Serbian presidential election. He won 2.26% of the vote in the first round, and supported Boris Tadić in the second round.
