2022 Route D'Occitanie
The 2022 Route d'Occitanie (known as the La Route d'Occitanie - La Dépêche du Midi for sponsorship reasons) is a road cycling stage race that took place between 16 and 19 June 2022 in the southern French region of Occitanie. The race is the 46th edition of the Route d'Occitanie and is rated as a category 2.1 event on the 2022 UCI Europe Tour. 2022 UCI Europe Tour
The 2022 UCI Europe Tour was the eighteenth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2022 season began on 23 January 2022 with the Trofeo Luis Puig, Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana 1969, and concluded on 16 October 2022 with the Chrono des Nations and the Veneto Classic. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. Roger Adrià Oliveras (born 18 April 1998) is a Spanish cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . In August 2020, on stage 3 of the Vuelta a Burgos, Adrià was part of the stage's main breakaway of nine riders. Late into the stage, he dropped his fellow breakaway riders and nearly stayed away for the surprise win, but he was caught on the slopes of Picón Blanco with several kilometers left by the general classification contenders. Roquefort-sur-Soulzon
Roquefort-sur-Soulzon (; , ) is a commune in the Aveyron department, in the region of Occitania, southern France. Roquefort is located on the Causse du Larzac and is famous for its ewe derived products including milk, wool, and meat. Much of the activity in the commune centres on the production and distribution of Roquefort cheese. To be legally termed Roquefort cheese, it must follow the rules laid down by the federal standards of the ''Appellation d’Origine''. According to archaeologists, the cheese making process in the specific caves dates back to 900 C.E. A visitor centre illustrates the process of making Roquefort cheese and offers guests a chance to sample and purchase the product. Arnaud Démare (born 26 August 1991) is a French professional road racing cyclist who rides for UCI WorldTeam . Having turned professional in 2012 and specialising as a sprinter, Démare has taken almost 100 wins as a professional, including 10 Grand Tour stage victories – 2 at the Tour de France and 8 at the Giro d'Italia (the most by any French rider) – and he won the points classification in the Giro d'Italia in 2020 and 2022.
