The 2022 PDC Winmau Challenge Tour consisted of 24 darts tournaments on the 2022 PDC Pro Tour. Prize money The prize money for the Challenge Tour events remained the same from 2021, with each event having a prize fund of £10,000. Winmau
Winmau, pronounced "win more", is a Welsh manufacturer of dartboards, other darts equipment and title sponsor of the oldest darts tournament still running, the Winmau World Masters. Founded in 1945, Winmau was acquired by rival dartboard manufacturer Nodor in 2002, headed by John Bluck, with both brands remaining in production. The company is based in Bridgend in south Wales although manufacturing of the boards takes place in Kenya. Bluck's eldest son Vince is now the managing director. History Origins The company was founded as H.A. Kicks in 1945 by Harry Kicks using his demob money. Leicester Arena
The Leicester Arena (officially known as the Mattioli Arena due to sponsorship reasons) is a multi-purpose sports arena located in Leicester, England. Jurjen Van Der Velde
Jurjen van der Velde (born 4 December 2002) is a Dutch professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He won the 2018 JDC World Darts Championship and the 2018 World Youth Masters. Van der Velde formerly played in World Darts Federation (WDF) events and is also a multi-medalist at the boys events at each of the WDF Europe Cup Youth and WDF World Cup. In senior events he was a quarter-finalist at both the Dutch Open and World Masters in 2022. David John Pallett (born 8 February 1990) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Career In January 2013, Pallett entered PDC Q School and stood just one match from joining the tour in the second event, but lost 6–5 to Louis Blundell. However, after all four events had been played, he had done enough through the Q School Order of Merit to earn a two-year PDC tour card. Gian van Veen (born 23 April 2002) is a Dutch professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events, where he is currently ranked world number twenty-three. Nicknamed "the Giant", Van Veen made his first major semi-final at the 2023 European Championship. He won his first ranking PDC title at 2025 Players Championship 6. Jelle Klaasen (born 17 October 1984), nicknamed the Cobra, is a Dutch professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He previously participated in British Darts Organisation (BDO) tournaments, where in 2006, he became the youngest player to win the BDO World Darts Championship, aged 21 at the time. Danny van Trijp (born 24 December 1996) is a Dutch darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He won two titles on the 2022 PDC Challenge Tour. Career Van Trijp attended European Q-School in 2019, but never got farther than the last 16, missing out on a PDC Tour Card. He did then qualify as one of the Associate Member qualifiers for the 2019 European Darts Open in Leverkusen, Germany. However, he lost 6–3 to Adam Hunt in the first round. Stephen Burton (born December 11, 1989) is an American former professional football wide receiver. He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL draft. 2022 PDC Pro Tour
The 2022 PDC Pro Tour was a series of non-televised darts tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Players Championships and European Tour events are the events that make up the Pro Tour. There were thirty Players Championship events and thirteen PDC European Tour events, and after the split format last year, the Challenge and Development Tours returned as one big tour, rather than a UK/European split tour. Prize money The prize money for the Players Championship events rose from 2021 levels, with each event having a prize fund of £100,000.
