2022 Monte Carlo Formula 2 Round
The 2022 Monaco FIA Formula 2 round was a motor racing event held between 27 and 29 May 2022 at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo, Monaco. It was the fifth round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship, and was held in support of the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix. Classification Qualifying Liam Lawson originally finished first in qualifying, but was later stripped of pole position and given a five-place grid-penalty in the Sprint Race due to failing to slow under yellow flags. Felipe Drugovich therefore inherited the pole position, his second of the season. Circuit de Monaco is a street circuit laid out on the city streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine around the harbour of the Principality of Monaco. It is commonly, and even officially, referred to as "Monte Carlo" because it is largely inside the Monte Carlo neighbourhood of Monaco. The circuit is annually used on three weekends in April–May for Formula One Monaco Grand Prix, Formula E Monaco ePrix and Historic Grand Prix of Monaco. Cem Bölükbaşı (; born 9 February 1998) is a Turkish racing driver and former sim racer who is set to compete in the 2023 Super Formula Championship with TGM Grand Prix, having last raced in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Charouz Racing System. Frederik Vesti (born 13 January 2002) is a Danish racing driver who is set to compete in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Prema Racing. He is a member of the Mercedes Junior Team and the inaugural champion of the Formula Regional European Championship.
