2022 Kelly Cup Playoffs
The 2022 Kelly Cup playoffs of the ECHL hockey league began on April 20, 2022, following the conclusion of the 2021–22 ECHL season, 2021–22 ECHL regular season and ended on June 11 with the Florida Everblades winning their second Kelly Cup over the Toledo Walleye in five games. Playoff format The league announced its playoff format on January 21, 2022. At the end of the regular season, the top four teams in each division qualify for the 2022 Kelly Cup playoffs and are seeded one through four based on the highest points percentage earned in the season. Then the first two rounds of the playoffs are held within the division with the first seed facing the fourth seed and the second seed facing the third. The division champions then play each other in a conference championship. The Kelly Cup finals pit the Eastern Conference champion against the Western Conference champion. Florida Everblades
The Florida Everblades are a professional minor league ice hockey team based in Estero, Florida, in the Cape Coral-Fort Myers metropolitan area. They play in the ECHL and are affiliated with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL) starting in the 2022–23 ECHL season. The Wheeling Nailers are a professional ECHL ice hockey team based in Wheeling, West Virginia. They are the ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. The Nailers are the oldest surviving minor league franchise below the level of the American Hockey League, with unbroken continuity of franchise and never having missed a season of play. Julien Nantel (born September 6, 1996) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward. He was drafted in the 6th round by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Nantel played 40 games for the Laval-Montreal Rousseau Royal in the QMAAA as a 15 year old, and scored 11 goals with 17 assists and 8 penalty minutes. In his second season with the Royal's he led the team in the playoffs to capture the championship and earn honors as the playoff MVP with 17 points in 17 games. He was selected by Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the second round (30th overall) of the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft. Colisée Vidéotron is a multi-purpose arena in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. Opened in September 2021, the arena replaced the aging Colisée de Trois-Rivières and seats 4,390 fans. Starting with the 2021-22 season, its main tenant is the Trois-Rivières Lions professional hockey team in the ECHL. Mary Brown's Centre (formerly Mile One Centre) is an indoor arena and entertainment venue located in downtown St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The arena opened in May 2001, replacing Memorial Stadium. At full capacity the arena can seat 7,000 people. The arena is the home of the Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL, and the Newfoundland Rogues of the TBL. The Santander Arena (formerly known as the Sovereign Center) is a 7,160-seat multi-purpose arena, in Reading, Pennsylvania. It was built in 2001. The arena sits on the former site of the Astor Theater; one of several grand movie and theater palaces built in Reading in the early 20th century. Closed in 1975, the theater sat vacant for over two decades. In 1998, the Astor was demolished to make room for the Santander Arena. The Tulsa Oilers are a professional ice hockey team based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and play in the ECHL. The Allen Americans are a professional ice hockey team headquartered at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, which currently plays in the ECHL.
