2022 Grand Slam Of Darts
The 2022 Cazoo Grand Slam of Darts, was the sixteenth staging of the Grand Slam of Darts, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. The event took place at the Aldersley Leisure Village, Aldersley, Wolverhampton, 12–20 November 2022. Gerwyn Price was the defending champion, after defeating Peter Wright 16–8 in the 2021 final, but he was eliminated by Raymond van Barneveld, losing 16–13 in their quarter-final. Michael Smith won his first major title, defeating Nathan Aspinall 16–5 in the final. It was the first time the tournament had been won by an Englishman since 2014, when it was won by Phil Taylor. Josh Rock, who made his debut, hit a nine-dart finish during his second-round defeat to Michael van Gerwen. Prize money The prize fund for the Grand Slam increased by £100,000 to £650,000. Aldersley
Aldersley is a small suburb of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. It is north-west of Wolverhampton city centre, within the Tettenhall Regis ward. Aldersley is a relatively modern part of Wolverhampton, with most of the housing stock – both private and council – dating from after World War II. The World Darts Federation (WDF) is a sport governing body and (along with the PDC) a tournament organiser for the game of darts. It was formed in 1974 by representatives of the original fourteen founding members. Membership is open to the national organizing body for darts in all nations. The WDF encourages the promotion of the sport of darts among and between those bodies, in an effort to gain international recognition for darts as a major sport. The 2022 Cazoo UK Open was a darts tournament staged by the Professional Darts Corporation. It was the twentieth year of the tournament where players compete in a single elimination tournament to be crowned champion. The tournament returned to Butlin's Minehead, England, between 4–6 March 2022, having been held behind closed doors at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes in 2021 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. James Wade was the defending champion after defeating Luke Humphries 11–5 in the 2021 final, but he lost 10–4 to Keane Barry in the quarter-finals. Danny Noppert won his first PDC major tournament, beating Michael Smith 11–10 in the final after Smith had a dart for the title. UK Open
The Cazoo UK Open is a ranking major darts tournament held annually at the Butlins Minehead Resort by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) in England. Often referred to as the "FA Cup of darts", the UK Open replicates the abolition of seedings, elimination play, and fixtures determined via open draw. One-hundred-and-sixty players compete in the multi-board event over eight-stages before the PDC’s Top 32 enter the tournament in the fourth round. It was held from 28 to 30 January 2022 at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, England. Jonny Clayton was the defending champion after beating Mervyn King 11–8 in the 2021 final, but he lost 11–6 to Dave Chisnall in the semi-finals. Joe Cullen won his first televised title by defeating Chisnall 11–9 in the final. He subsequently earned a place in the 2022 Premier League Darts, for the first time in his career. The Masters (also known as the Cazoo Masters for sponsorship purposes) is a non-ranking PDC darts tournament which features the top 24 darts players according to the PDC Order of Merit as of 2021. History The inaugural tournament, held in 2013, was won by Phil Taylor, who defeated Adrian Lewis 10–1 in the final. James Wade won the following year by defeating Mervyn King 11–10 in the 2014 final. Michael van Gerwen became the third different champion in 3 years when he defeated Raymond van Barneveld 11–6. In 2013 and 2014, the tournament took place in the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland and was played in early November. World Grand Prix (darts)
The BoyleSports World Grand Prix is a PDC darts tournament traditionally held in Dublin, Ireland every October, but has taken place in Leicester, England in since 2021. Its original venue was the Casino Rooms in Rochester, Kent in 1998 and 1999, and then for one year only in 2000 at the Crosbie Cedars Hotel in Rosslare, County Wexford. In 2001, the tournament moved further north to the Citywest in Dublin. In 2009, the tournament moved from the Reception Hall at the main Citywest Hotel, to the newly completed bigger venue on site, the Citywest Hotel Convention Centre. In 2012, the tournament moved back to the Reception Hall for that year, before returning to the Convention Centre in 2013. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 tournament was held at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, and since 2021, it has been held at the Morningside Arena, Leicester. 2022 World Matchplay
The 2022 Betfred World Matchplay will be the 29th annual staging of the World Matchplay, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. The tournament will take place at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, from 16 to 24 July 2022. Peter Wright is the defending champion after defeating Dimitri Van den Bergh 18–9 in the 2021 final. This tournament will also have a separate women's event taking place on the day of the final of the main tournament. Prize money The prize fund will increase by £100,000 and rise to £800,000. It is unclear how it is going to be broken down as of yet. The World Matchplay, also known as the Betfred World Matchplay for sponsorship purposes, is a professional darts tournament and one of three legs of the Triple Crown. It is played in a legs format, and is run by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Michael van Gerwen is the current champion after winning the 2022 edition. History The World Matchplay has been played annually since 1994 in the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool. The first ever winner was Larry Butler, who beat Dennis Priestley 16–12, and the current holder is Micheal van Gerwen. It is regarded as the second biggest PDC Tournament, status shown by the fact the whole tournament was sold out within three days of the tickets being on sale. The 2022 Cazoo Premier League Darts is an ongoing darts tournament, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation – the eighteenth edition of the tournament. The event began on Thursday 3 February 2022, at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, and is scheduled to end with the play-offs, at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin on Monday 13 June 2022. Jonny Clayton is the reigning champion after defeating José de Sousa 11–5 in the 2021 final. On Night 3, Gerwyn Price hit nine-dart finishes in consecutive matches (in his semi-final against Michael van Gerwen and the final against James Wade), making him the second person in Premier League history to hit two nine-darters on the same night, after Phil Taylor, who did both of his in the 2010 Premier League Darts final against Wade.
