2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification (CAF)
The African section of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification acted as qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Qatar, for national teams which are members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). A total of five slots in the final tournament were available for CAF teams. Format A previous proposal to merge the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualification, qualification rounds for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with those for the World Cup was turned down after a CAF meeting on 11 June 2018. CAF reverted to the format used for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification (CAF), 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification competition. *First round: 28 teams (ranked 27–54) played home-and-away over two-legged tie, two legs. Islam Slimani (; born 18 June 1988) is an Algerian professional Association football, footballer who plays as a striker (association football), striker for Belgian Pro League club K.V.C. The FIFA Men's World Ranking is a ranking system for men's national teams in association football, first introduced in December 1992. The men's teams of the member nations of FIFA, football's world governing body, are ranked based on their game results with the most successful teams being ranked highest. the rankings were led by Argentina. Eight teams (Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain) have held the top position, of which Brazil have spent the longest time ranked first. A points system is used, with points being awarded based on the results of all FIFA-recognised full international matches. The ranking system has been revamped on several occasions, generally responding to criticism that the preceding calculation method did not effectively reflect the relative strengths of the national teams. This article lists the performances of each of the national teams which have made at least one appearance in the FIFA World Cup. As of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, 80 national teams have competed at the final tournaments. Brazil is the only team to have appeared in all 22 tournaments up to the 2022 edition, with Germany having participated in 20, Italy and Argentina in 18 and Mexico in 17. To date, eight nations have won the tournament. The inaugural winners in 1930 were Uruguay; the current champions are Argentina. 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification – CAF Second Round
The second round of CAF matches for 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification was played over six matchdays, from 1 September to 16 November 2021. Format The second round saw the top 26 ranked CAF teams joined by the 14 winners from the first round. These teams were drawn into ten groups of four teams to play home-and-away round-robin matches.
