2022 D.C. United Season
The 2022 season was D.C. United's 27th in existence and their 27th consecutive season in the top division of Soccer in the United States, American soccer, Major League Soccer. In addition to MLS, D.C. United participated in this season's editions of the 2022 U.S. Open Cup, U.S. Open Cup. United also participated in the 2022 Coachella Valley Invitational, Coachella Valley Invitational and the Capital Cup (soccer), Capital Cup friendly tournaments. The season covered the period from 1 December 2021 to 30 November 2022. Capital Cup (soccer)
The Capital Cup is a friendly association football tournament held in July hosted by Major League Soccer club D.C. United at their stadium Audi Field. It is contested by clubs from CONCACAF nations. The inaugural tournament was held in 2021, but was only a two-legged aggregate series between two clubs, as two other teams withdrew due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second edition featured three teams and utilized a round-robin format. D.C. Diego Restrepo
Diego Alejandro Restrepo Garcia (born February 25, 1988) is a soccer coach and former player who played as a goalkeeper. Currently, he is the Goalkeeping coach for Manchester City Women, a member of the Barclays Super League. Additionally, he is the Goalkeeper coach of the Welsh Senior Women’s National Team. Playing career College and amateur Restrepo lived in Colombia until he was 11 before moving to West Palm Beach, Florida with his family. Nicolás Alejandro Frutos Cortino (born 10 May 1981) is an Argentine football coach and retired player. A striker during his playing career, he is an assistant coach for Major League Soccer club D.C. Taxiarchis Fountas (; born 4 September 1995) is a Greek professional footballer who plays as a forward for Super League club OFI and the Greece national team. Christian Benteke Liolo (born 3 December 1990) is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Major League Soccer club D.C. United. Benteke began his career at Standard Liège, playing a part in their 2008–09 Belgian First Division triumph. Following a season at Genk he was signed for £7 million by Aston Villa. Frédéric Brillant (born 26 June 1985) is a French former footballer and coach. He has played most of his career with clubs in Belgium and in the United States. Julian Emil Kurt Gressel (born December 16, 1993) is a professional soccer player who plays as a full-back for Major League Soccer club Minnesota United. Born in Germany, he represents the United States national team. He began his career in Germany before moving to the United States in 2011.
