2022 Budapest Formula 2 Round
The 2022 Budapest FIA Formula 2 round was a motor racing event held between 29 and 31 July 2022 at the Hungaroring, Mogyoród, Hungary. It was the tenth round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship and was held in support of the 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix. Driver changes After replacing Jake Hughes in Le Castellet, David Beckmann continued to compete for Van Amersfoort Racing after Hughes tested positive for COVID-19 during the Le Castellet round. Hungaroring
The Hungaroring is a motorsport racetrack in Mogyoród, Pest County, Hungary where the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix is held. In 1986, it became the location of the first Formula One Grand Prix behind the Iron Curtain. Bernie Ecclestone wanted a race in the USSR, but a Hungarian friend recommended Budapest. They wanted a street circuit similar to the Circuit de Monaco to be built in the Népliget – Budapest's largest park – but the government decided to build a new circuit just outside the city near a major highway. Construction works started on 1 October 1985. It was built in eight months, less time than any other Formula One circuit. The first race was held on 24 March 1986, in memory of János Drapál, the first Hungarian who won motorcycle Grand Prix races. 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship
The 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship is a motor racing championship for Formula 2 cars that is sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The championship is the fifty-sixth season of Formula 2 racing and the sixth season run under the FIA Formula 2 Championship moniker. It is an open-wheel racing category that serves as the second tier of formula racing in the FIA Global Pathway. The category is run in support of selected rounds of the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship. As the championship is a spec series, all teams and drivers competing in the championship run the same car, the Dallara F2 2018. Liam Lawson (born 11 February 2002) is a New Zealand motor racing driver set to compete in the 2023 Super Formula Championship with Team Mugen. Frederik Vesti
Frederik Vesti (born 13 January 2002) is a Danish racing driver who is set to compete in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Prema Racing. He is a member of the Mercedes Junior Team and the inaugural champion of the Formula Regional European Championship. Racing career Karting Vesti starting karting competitively in 2012, at the age of 10. He went on to win many Danish karting competitions, including the Danish championship in 2014 for the KFJ category. Felipe Drugovich Roncato (born 23 May 2000) is a Brazilian-Italian racing driver of Austrian descent who last competed in FIA Formula 2 Championship with MP Motorsport. He is the 2018 Euroformula Open champion and the 2022 Formula 2 champion. Marcus Armstrong
Marcus Cornelius Armstrong (born 29 July 2000) is a New Zealand motor racing driver. He is due to compete in IndyCar on road and street courses with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2023. Previously he competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship between 2020 and 2022. He was a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy between 2017 and 2021. Armstrong started single-seaters in 2014, and in the following year won his only single-seater title to date in the 2017 Italian F4 Championship whilst becoming runner-up in the 2017 ADAC Formula 4 Championship. The 2022 Le Castellet FIA Formula 2 round was a motor racing event held between 22 and 24 July 2022 at the Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Castellet, France.
