2020–21 Women's EHF European League
The 2020–21 Women's EHF European League was the 40th edition of EHF's second-tier women's handball competition, running from 10 October 2020 to 9 May 2021. The tournament was previously called Women's EHF Cup. There was no defending champion, after last season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Overview Team allocation Round and draw dates The schedule of the competition was as follows (all draws were held at the EHF headquarters in Vienna, Austria). The EHF announced that the originally planned first qualification round in September would be skipped. Qualification stage Round 2 There were 12 teams participating in round 2. The Women's EHF European League is an annual competition for women's handball clubs of Europe. It is organized by the European Handball Federation, EHF. It is currently the second-tier competition of European club handball, ranking only below the Women's EHF Champions League, EHF Champions League. Previously called the Women's EHF Cup, the competition is known as the Women's EHF European League from the 2020–21 season. History The first edition took place in 1981. It was called the IHF Cup until 1993. From the 2016–17 season, the competition merged with the Women's EHF Cup Winners' Cup, EHF Cup Winners' Cup. Höörs HK H 65 is a Swedish women's handball club from Höör established in 1965, competing in the Swedish women's handball league, Handbollsligan, since 2011. In 2014 the team won the 2013–14 EHF Challenge Cup. History In 2011–2012, the team accessed to the Elitserien, the highest level in Sweden. In 2012–2013, the team takes part to the playoffs, eliminated by IK Sävehof in semifinals. Zvezda Zvenigorod (, lit. ''Star Zvenigorod'') is a Russian women's handball club from Zvenigorod, near Moscow. They won the Champions League and the Champions Trophy in 2008, and the EHF Cup in 2006/07. Between 2006 and 2011 the club was coached by Russian national team trainer Evgeny Trefilov. Byåsen Håndball Elite is the women's handball team of the Norwegian multi-sports club Byåsen IL based in Trondheim. The team plays in REMA 1000-ligaen, the top division in the country, since its promotion in 1982. The team's first success came as a third division club, when in 1980 it won the silver medal in the national cup.
