2020–21 Rotherham United F.C. Season
The 2020–21 season is Rotherham United's 96th season in their existence and the first back in the Championship following promotion last season. The club also participated in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. Key events The delayed season started for Rotherham on 5 September 2021, with a defeat on penalties in the EFL cup to League 2 side Salford City. On 15 September, manager Paul Warne and his assistant Richie Barker signed new contracts, keeping them at the club until the summer of 2023. Rotherham suffered long-term injuries to four key players in the five weeks between 7 October and 12 November. Rotherham () is a large minster and market town in South Yorkshire, England. The town takes its name from the River Rother which then merges with the River Don. The River Don then flows through the town centre. It is the main settlement of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham. Rotherham is also the third largest settlement in South Yorkshire after Sheffield and Doncaster, which it is located between. Traditional industries included glass making and flour milling. Most around the time of the industrial revolution, it was also known as a coal mining town as well as a contributor to the steel industry. The town's historic county is Yorkshire. Chiedozie Ogbene (born 1 May 1997) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a winger for Rotherham United and the Republic of Ireland national team. Ogbene began his career in Ireland with Cork City and Limerick, before transferring to Brentford in 2018. After a loan spell with Exeter City he moved to Rotherham United in 2019. Kieran Paul Sadlier (born 14 September 1994) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Leyton Orient, on loan from Bolton Wanderers. He can also play at wing-back.
