2020 Trans-Am Series
The 2020 Trans-Am Series season is the 52nd running of the Trans-Am Series. The National Championship began on March 1 and will run for twelve rounds. Within this championship, a Northern Cup and Southern Cup are also awarded consisting of the point totals from certain rounds for drivers who are not running the full season. A separate West Coast Championship will also be held with some rounds separate from the national series and some together. Brainerd Raceway returned to the schedule and Daytona International Speedway was dropped due to scheduling conflicts. Trans-Am Series
The Trans-Am Series is a sports car racing series held in North America. Founded in 1966, it is sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Primarily based in the United States, the series competes on a variety of track types including road courses and street circuits. Trans-Am is split into the TA and TA2 classes for silhouette racing cars, while its production classes are the GT (grand touring), SGT (super grand touring), and XGT (extreme grand touring). Origin The Trans-Am Series was created in 1966 by Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) President John Bishop. Originally known as the Trans-American Sedan Championship, the name was changed to the Trans-American Championship for 1967 and henceforth. Misha Goikhberg
Mikhail "Misha" Goikhberg (born 24 November 1986), is a Russian-born Canadian race car driver who is best known for competing in the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Early career Goikhberg's first foray into driving happened in 2003 at the Russian track of Nevskoye Kolzo (The Neva Ring) with a Lada Cup Car under guidance of experienced Russian race car driver Aleksandr Lvov. Goikhberg completed several seasons of regional karting in Canada, followed by enrollment into Skip Barber Racing School in 2008. Thomas Merrill (racing Driver)
Thomas Merrill (born April 17, 1986) is an American racing driver who competes in the Trans-Am Series and Porsche Carrera Cup North America. Alongside Nicky Catsburg and Chandler Hull, he was the 2023 Asian Le Mans Series champion in the GT class. He also won the TA2-class title in the 2022 Trans-Am Series. Flinn Lazier (born 4 April 1999 in Vail, Colorado) is an American racing driver. Lazier has raced in Formula Vee, Formula Enterprise, Formula Atlantic, Formula 4, and USF2000. Jett Noland (born November 12, 2003) is an American professional racing driver who last competed part-time for Niece Motorsports in both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving the Nos. 44 and 45 Chevrolet Silverados, and the ARCA Menards Series, driving the No. 50 Chevrolet SS. Raymond Donald Evernham Jr. (born August 26, 1957) is an American consultant for Hendrick Companies, formerly an auto racing crew chief for Bill Davis Racing and Hendrick Motorsports, owner of his own team Evernham Motorsports from 2001 to 2010, and analyst for ESPN's NASCAR coverage. Sam A. Mayer (born June 26, 2003) is an American professional stock car racing driver.
