2020 Speedway Grand Prix Of Poland
The 2020 FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Poland was the first, second, third, fourth, seventh and eighth rounds of the 2020 Speedway Grand Prix season (the World Championship). The calendar of events was severely disrupted by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and therefore Poland held six rounds of the eight rounds of the 2020 World Championship. With the exception of the Czech Republic, all of the scheduled rounds to be held in other countries were cancelled. The first two rounds took place on 28 & 29 August 2020 at the Olympic Stadium (Wrocław), Olympic Stadium in Wrocław. The third and fourth rounds were held on 11 and 12 September at the Edward Jancarz Stadium in Gorzów Wielkopolski and finally the last two rounds were held on 2 & 3 October MotoArena Toruń in Toruń. Olympic Stadium (Wrocław)
The Olympic Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium in Wrocław, Poland. It is the home stadium of Motorcycle speedway, speedway team Sparta Wrocław and American football team Panthers Wrocław. The stadium has a capacity now of 11,000 people and was supposed to be one of the main pitches on UEFA Euro 2012. Leon Madsen
Leon Daniel Madsen (born 5 September 1988) is a Danish speedway rider who is twice a World Championship silver medalist. Career Born in Vejle, Madsen won the 80cc junior World Championship in 2001. In 2018, Madsen won the Individual Speedway European Championship for the first time. The following year in 2019, he won the silver medal in the Speedway World Championship, finishing runner-up in the 2019 Speedway Grand Prix behind Bartosz Zmarzlik. He won three Grand Prix events during the 2019 Championship. He was part of the Denmark national speedway team that won consecutive bronze medals at the 2020 Speedway of Nations and 2021 Speedway of Nations. Anders Thomsen (born 1 January 1994) is an international speedway rider from Denmark and a triple Danish champion. Speedway career Thomsen became champion of Denmark, winning the Danish Championship in 2020. He rode in the second tier of British Speedway from 2013–2016, riding for Glasgow Tigers and Peterborough Panthers. Antonio Lindbäck (born 5 May 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden, who competed in the Speedway World Championship and was a member of the Swedish team who won the Speedway World Cup in 2004 and 2015. Niels Kristian Trochmann Iversen (, born 20 June 1982 in Esbjerg, Denmark) is an international motorcycle speedway rider. Gleb Sergeevich Chugunov (born 17 December 1999) is an international speedway rider from Russia, who rides on a Polish licence. Speedway career Chugunov won a bronze medal at the Speedway World Cup in the 2017 Speedway World Cup. The following year the competition was rebranded as the Speedway of Nations and Chugunov has twice been credited with a gold medal for being part of the victorious Russian side in 2018 and 2019. In 2020, he switched his licence and now represents Poland. Chugunov controversially revealed that he married a Polish girl in order to obtain a Polish racing licence.
