2020 Philadelphia Fusion Season
The 2020 Philadelphia Fusion season was the third season of the Philadelphia Fusion's existence in the Overwatch League and their first under head coach Kim "KDG" Dong-gun. The Fusion planned to host three homestand weekends in the 2020 season, with the first two taking place at The Met in Philadelphia and the third at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. While their first homestand weekend took place, all following homestand events were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On August 16, in their final regular season game, the Fusion clinched the top seed in the North America region for the season playoffs with a win over the San Francisco Shock. In the first round of the North America bracket, Philadelphia swept the Los Angeles Gladiators, 3–0. The following day, the Fusion swept the Los Angeles Valiant, 3–0, sending them to the North America upper bracket finals. The Met Philadelphia
The Metropolitan Opera House is a historic opera house located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It has been used for many different purposes over its history. Now known as The Met, the theatre reopened in December 2018, after a complete renovation, as a concert venue. It is managed by Live Nation Philadelphia. Built over the course of just a few months in 1908, it was the ninth opera house built by impresario Oscar Hammerstein I. It was initially the home of Hammerstein's Philadelphia Opera Company, and called the "Philadelphia Opera House". Hammerstein sold the house to the Metropolitan Opera of New York City in 1910, when it was renamed. The Met used the theatre through 1920, after which various opera companies used the house through 1934. Fusion University
Fusion University (FU) was an American esports team for the video game ''Overwatch'' competing in Overwatch Contenders (OWC) and an academy team for the Philadelphia Fusion of the Overwatch League (OWL). The team is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and plays in the Europe region of OWC. Fusion has won four consecutive North America Contenders titles and most recently won the 2019 Atlantic Showdown. The team began competition in the North America region of OWC and moved to the Korea division in 2019. Prior to the 2020 season, Fusion University disbanded. They returned to competition for the Europe 2021 season. Overwatch Contenders (OWC) is an international esports league for the video game '' Overwatch'' that is organized by Blizzard Entertainment. The series acts as the development league for aspiring Overwatch League (OWL) professionals. Kim "Alarm" Kyeong-bo
Kim Kyeong-bo (, July 21, 2001 – November 2021), better known by his online alias Alarm, was a South Korean professional ''Overwatch'' support player in the Overwatch League (OWL). He began his career in 2016, signing with BK Stars, and later played for Lunatic-Hai and Fusion University of Overwatch Contenders (OWC). In his time with Fusion University, Kim won four OWC regional championships and won the OWC interregional Atlantic Showdown tournament. Kim signed with the Philadelphia Fusion of the OWL ahead of the 2020 season. He was named the OWL's Rookie of the Year, nominated for the league's Most Valuable Player award, named a 2020 All-Star, and awarded with a Role Star commendation that year.
