2020 Mainland Tactix Season
The 2020 Mainland Tactix season saw the Mainland Tactix netball team compete in the 2020 ANZ Premiership. As part of their pre-season preparations, Tactix competed in the 2019 Netball New Zealand Super Club, finishing the tournament in sixth place. With a team coached by Marianne Delaney-Hoshek, captained by Jane Watson and featuring Ellie Bird, Temalisi Fakahokotau, Erikana Pedersen, Kimiora Poi and Te Paea Selby-Rickit, Tactix finished the regular ANZ Premiership season in second place, qualifying for their first grand final. However, in the grand final, Tactix lost to Central Pulse 43–31. Jane Watson (netball)
Jane Watson (born 7 March 1990) is a New Zealand netball international. She was a member of the New Zealand teams that won the 2019 Netball World Cup and the 2021 Constellation Cup. Watson has also played for both Mainland Tactix and Southern Steel in the ANZ Championship and the ANZ Premiership. In 2017 she was a member of the Steel team that won the inaugural ANZ Premiership title. She was named ANZ Premiership Player of the Year in both 2017 and 2020. In April 2022, Watson was included on a list of the 25 best players to feature in netball leagues in New Zealand since 1998. Early life, family and education Watson was born and raised in the South Island. She is the daughter of Mary and Ross Watson. She initially grew up on her parents farm in Cave before the Watsons moved south to a new farm at Millers Flat on the Clutha River. Suncorp Super Netball
Suncorp Super Netball is the top level netball league featuring teams from Australia. In 2017 it replaced the ANZ Championship, which also included teams from New Zealand, as the top level netball league in Australia. Since 2019, the league has been governed, on behalf of Netball Australia, by an independent commission. Its main sponsor is Suncorp Group. Kalifa McCollin
Kalifa McCollin (born 18 July 1995) is a netball player from Trinidad and Tobago, who plays for the Collingwood Magpies in the Suncorp Super Netball league. Career McCollin's netball career commenced from a young age. Born in Trinidad and Tobago to sports-coaching parents, she was selected to play for the under-16 international team at the age of 12, and rose up the international ranks to make her senior debut for the national team in 2015, at the age of 17. She has represented Trinidad and Tobago at the 2015 and 2019 Netball World Cups. In club netball, McCollin's ability led to her moving to the United Kingdom, where she played for the Celtic Dragons and Mavericks between 2016 and 2019, and became one of the Netball Superleague's most reliable attackers. Rachel Dunn
Rachel Margaret Dunn (born 14 November 1982) is an English international netball player. Dunn debuted for the England national netball team in 2004 against South Africa, and was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games, and a silver medal at the 2010 World Netball Series. Domestically, Dunn has made over 200 Netball Superleague appearances, and currently plays for Wasps Netball. Dunn played for Team Bath before switching to Surrey Storm in 2009. In May 2008, Dunn was signed to play in the Australasian ANZ Championship for the Canterbury Tactix in New Zealand, replacing pregnant Tactix shooter Jodi Brown. Abigail Latu-Meafou
Abigail Latu-Meafou (born 5 July 1997) is a New Zealand-born Australian netball player in the ANZ Premiership, playing for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic. Latu-Meafou was born in Auckland, New Zealand though grew up playing netball in Ipswich, Australia. She made her debut in the Super Netball league in 2017 for the Queensland Firebirds as an injury-replacement player before being picked up on the starting list by the Adelaide Thunderbirds ahead of the 2018 season. Waikato Bay Of Plenty Magic
Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic are a New Zealand netball team based in Hamilton. Between 1999 and 2007, they played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017, Magic have represented Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty in the ANZ Premiership. Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty is the governing body that represents the North Island regions of Waikato and Bay of Plenty. During the National Bank Cup era, Magic were premiers in 2005 and 2006. During the ANZ Championship era, Magic were the most successful New Zealand team. Natalie Medhurst
Natalie Medhurst (born 20 January 1984) is a retired Australian international netball player. As well as playing for several clubs in Australia's domestic competitions, she also made multiple appearances for the Australian Diamonds in various international competitions and tests. Netball career Domestic career Born in Warracknabeal, Victoria, Medhurst rose to prominence in 2004, when the then-twenty-year-old had a strong debut for the Adelaide Thunderbirds. Shimona Nelson
Shimona Nelson (born 1 December 1998) is a Jamaican netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for the Collingwood Magpies Netball, Collingwood Magpies. Career Nelson broke into the senior Jamaica national netball team in early 2017 in a test series against Barbados national netball team, Barbados and has also represented Jamaica at Under-21 and Fast5 Netball World Series, Fast5 level. Trafalgar Centre
The Trafalgar Centre is a multipurpose events centre located in Nelson, New Zealand. The stadium was built in 1972 and opened in 1973. The main stadium holds up to 2,460 people. It can be used as two tennis courts or four basketball courts. Tenants The Nelson Giants use the Trafalgar Centre for their home games. The stadium is nicknamed 'The Hangar' by loyal Giants fans. WDF World Cup In 1981, the WDF World Cup was held at Trafalgar Centre. It was only the third ever WDF World Cup and the only one ever to be held in New Zealand. England won the overall event. Julianna Naoupu
Julianna Naoupu (born 1 March 1990) is a Samoan New Zealander who played for the Samoa national netball team and who plays in the ANZ Championship for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic. She was a member of the Silver Ferns wider training squad since 2011, and played previously for the Southern Steel from 2008 to 2010, and prior to that, the Canterbury Flames in the National Bank Cup. She was widely expected to make the Silver Ferns after a solid season in 2012, but chronic knee problems kept her out of the side and left her needing surgery. Vika Koloto (born 8 May 2002) is a Tongan New Zealander netball player who plays as a wing attack, goal attack, and goal shooter. She has represented Tonga internationally. She is the daughter of rugby league player Emosi Koloto. Koloto was born in Auckland, New Zealand and was educated at Baradene College of the Sacred Heart. Maia Wilson (born 21 September 1997) is a New Zealand netball international. She was a member of the New Zealand teams that won the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup and the 2021 Constellation Cup. She also represented New Zealand at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Wilson made her senior league debut with Central Pulse during the 2016 ANZ Championship season.
