2020 Indiana State Senate Election
The 2020 Indiana Senate election was held on November 3, 2020 as a part of the biennial elections in the U.S. state of Indiana, coinciding with other elections in the state, including for U.S. president, U.S. House, Indiana governor, and Indiana House, as well as various other state and local elections. Voters elected members to 25 of the 50 seats in the Indiana Senate to serve four-year terms in single-member constituencies. Primary elections were held on June 2. Following the election, the Republican Party retained supermajority control of the Senate, losing one seat to the Democratic Party in the process. Indiana Senate
The Indiana Senate is the upper house of the Indiana General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Indiana. The Senate is composed of 50 members representing an equal number of constituent districts. Senators serve four-year terms without term limits. According to the 2010 U.S. census, the average state senator represents 129,676 people. The Senate convenes at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. History The Indiana Senate was established in 1816 along with the Indiana House of Representatives in 1816, when Indiana became a state. In 1897, the Indiana House passed a bill rounding the value of pi to 3.2. Michael R. Crider is an Indiana politician who has represented District 28 of the Indiana Senate since 2012, currently serving as the Majority Whip.
