2020 Chinese Super League
The 2020 Chinese Super League, officially known as the 2020 Ping An Chinese Football Association Super League () for sponsorship reasons, was the 17th season since the establishment of the Chinese Super League. The season was scheduled to begin on 22 February and to end on 31 October, but was postponed following the COVID-19 pandemic. On 1 July 2020, the Chinese Football Association announced that the season would be split into two stages. In the first stage, which began on 25 July 2020 and concluded on 29 September 2020, 16 teams were split into two groups in two locations, one in Dalian and the other in Suzhou. On 2 September 2020, the Chinese Football Association announced that the second stage would begin on 16 October 2020 and conclude on 12 November 2020. Chinese Super League
The Chinese Football Super League (), commonly known as the Chinese Super League or the CSL (), also known as the China Resources Beverage Chinese Football Super League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in China and the highest level of the Chinese football league system. Governed by the Chinese Football Association and operated by the Chinese Professional Football League (CFL), the league was established in 2004 by the rebranding of the former top division, Chinese Jia-A League. Initially contested by 12 teams in its inaugural year, the league has since expanded, with 16 teams competing in the 2025 season. Dalian ( ) is a major sub-provincial port city in Liaoning province, People's Republic of China, and is Liaoning's second largest city (after the provincial capital Shenyang) and the third-most populous city of Northeast China (after Shenyang and Harbin). Bruno "Pep" Génésio (born 1 September 1966) is a French football manager and former player who played as a midfielder. He is the head coach of Ligue 1 club Lille. Early life Génésio was born on 1 September 1966 in Lyon. Playing career Génésio is a youth exponent from Lyon. He played 171 league games in the first team between 1985 and 1995, also representing Nice on loan during the 1993–94 season. In 1995, Génésio joined Martigues in the Ligue 1. He played 27 league matches for the club during the campaign, scoring once in a 2–1 home win against Guingamp on 18 May 1996; the match was also the last professional one of his career. Tianhe Stadium (), officially Tianhe Sports Centre Stadium (), is a multi-purpose stadium in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. It is currently used for football matches. History Construction of the stadium began on 4 July 1984 at the former site of Guangzhou Tianhe Airport. It was opened in August 1987 for the 1987 National Games of China. The 2020 China League One ( zh, 2020中国足球协会甲级联赛) was the 17th season of the China League One, the second tier of the Chinese football league pyramid, since its establishment in 2004. The season was scheduled to begin on 29 February and end on 1 November, but was postponed following the COVID-19 pandemic in China. On 26 August 2020, Chinese Football Association announced that the season would be resumed on 12 September 2020 and 18 teams would be split into three groups in three locations, Group A in Chengdu, hosted by Chengdu Better City, Group B in Meizhou, hosted by Meizhou Hakka, and Group C in Changzhou, hosted by Kunshan F.C. The 2019 China League One ( zh, 58同城 2019中国足球协会甲级联赛) was the 16th season of the China League One, the second tier of the Chinese football league pyramid, since its establishment in 2004. The league's title sponsor was the e-commerce website 58.com. The season began on 9 March and concluded on 2 November. Policy regarding foreign players and U-23 domestic players was modified in this season. The same as the previous two seasons, at least one domestic player who is under the age of 23 (born on or after 1 January 1996) must be in the starting eleven. However, the total number of foreign players appearing in matches is no longer related to the total number of U-23 domestic players.
