2019–20 Partick Thistle F.C. Season
The 2019–20 season was Partick Thistle's second consecutive season in the Scottish Championship, having been relegated from the Scottish Premiership at the end of the 2017–18 season. Partick Thistle also competed in the League Cup, the Scottish Challenge Cup, Scottish Cup and the revived Glasgow Cup. On 15 April, the SPFL voted to end the lower leagues in Scottish football due to the coronavirus pandemic and as a result Partick were relegated to League One after two years in the Championship, which the club decided not to take legal action against. Glasgow Cup
The Glasgow Cup is a football tournament open to teams from Glasgow, Scotland. Operated by the Glasgow Football Association, it was competed for annually by senior Glasgow clubs from 1887 until 1989. It is now (since the 2019–20 amended rules) competed for between the senior teams of Clyde, Partick Thistle and Queen's Park and the youth teams of Celtic and Rangers, and has used both knockout and round robin formats to determine the finalists. The cup was dominated by the city's Old Firm rivals, Rangers and Celtic, who won the competition 44 times and 29 times respectively (including one shared win) while it was a senior competition. Only five times did the final not feature either Rangers or Celtic (1889, 1915, 1946, 1947, and 1989). Neil Scally
Neil Scally (born 14 August 1978, in Paisley) is a Scottish football coach and former player. Scally played for Ayr United, Dumbarton, Falkirk and Queen of the South. Career Scally started his playing career with Ayr United and then Dumbarton. Scally then played for Falkirk, for who he scored the equalising goal in the 2004 Scottish Challenge Cup Final win against Ross County. That same season Scally and Falkirk earned promotion to the Scottish Premier League as First Division champions. He left on a free transfer from Falkirk in the summer of 2006. Scally then joined Dumfries club Queen of the South. His career was hampered by serious injury, not playing first team football at all in 2008. Alan Archibald (born 13 December 1977) is a Scottish association football, football coach and former player, who is currently a first-team coach at Heart of Midlothian F.C., Hearts. Archibald, who played as a Defender (football)#Centre back, defender, has been associated with Partick Thistle F.C., Partick Thistle for most of his career. Beginning his professional career with the club as a teenager, he went on to make 423 appearances for Thistle in two spells, placing him tenth on the club's all-time list of most appearances.
