2019–20 FC Pyunik Season
The 2019–20 season was Pyunik's 26th season in the Armenian Premier League. Season events On 24 October, Erik Vardanyan extended his contract with Pyunik. On 30 October, manager Aleksandr Tarkhanov became Vice President of Development with Assistant manager Suren Chakhalyan being appointed acting Head Coach. On 5 November, Pyunik announced that Erik Vardanyan would move to PFC Sochi on 1 January 2020. On 2 December, Nirisarike signed a new contract with Pyunik. On 12 December, goalkeeper Sevak Aslanyan extended his contract, with Levon Vardanyan signing his first professional contract on 17 December. On 8 January, Roman Berezovsky was confirmed as the new manager of Pyunik. On 25 January, Pyunik announced the signing of Joseph Adah. On 12 March 2020, the Football Federation of Armenia announced that all Armenian Premier League games had been postponed until 23 March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Football Club Pyunik Yerevan ( hy, Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Փյունիկ Երևան, Futbolayin Akumb P’yunik Yerevan), commonly known as Pyunik (" Phoenix"), is an Armenian professional sports club based in the Kentron neighbourhood of Yerevan. Pyunik is mostly known for its professional football team which, since its creation in 1992, has always played in the Armenian Premier League, becoming the most successful team of Armenia in number of official titles, with 31 won to date. Aras Özbiliz ( hy, Արաս Օզբիլիզ; born 9 March 1990) is an Armenian professional footballer who plays as a winger for FC Pyunik and the Armenia national team. Early life Özbiliz was born on 9 March 1990 in the Bakırköy district of Istanbul, Turkey to Armenian parents. He was named after the Aras River, a body of water in Armenia. His ancestors adopted the surname "Özbiliz", literally meaning "one, who preserves his identity." In the early 1990s, his family emigrated from Turkey to the Netherlands. Andrija Dragojević (Serbian Cyrillic: Андрија Драгојевић; born 25 December 1991) is a Montenegrin goalkeeper who currently plays for Montenegrin side FK Dečić. Artak Yedigaryan ( hy, Արտակ Եդիգարյան, born on 18 March 1990 in Yerevan) is an Armenian football player who plays as a defender for Alashkert and the Armenia national football team. Club career Artak was born in Yerevan in a family of football players, which naturally affected his future.
