2019 Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe
The 2019 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe was a horse racing, horse race held at Longchamp Racecourse on Sunday 6 October 2019. It was the 98th running of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. The race was won by Gestut Ammerland & Newsells Park's five-year-old horse Waldgeist, trained in France by André Fabre and ridden by Pierre-Charles Boudot. It was a record-breaking eighth win in the race for Fabre after the victories of Trempolino, Subotica (horse), Subotica, Carnegie (horse), Carnegie, Peintre Celebre, Sagamix, Hurricane Run and Rail Link (horse), Rail Link. Both the owners and jockey were winning the race for the first time. Waldgeist became the first French-trained five-year-old to win the Arc since Le Paillon in 1947. Ryan Lee Moore (born 18 September 1983) is an English flat racing jockey, who was Champion Jockey in 2006, 2008 and 2009. The is a horse race held twice a year in Japan, once in the spring and once in the autumn. "Tenno" means "Emperor of Japan". The races are both International Grade I races. Prior to the 2007 races, both Tenno Sho races were Japanese domestic Grade I races. Spring The Spring Tenno Sho is held at Kyoto Racecourse, in late April or early May. Fierement, ( ja, フィエールマン, link=no, foaled 20 January 2015) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. Unraced as a juvenile he won his first two starts as a three-year-old before running second in the Radio Nikkei Sho and the winning the Grade 1 Kikuka Sho on his final appearance of the year. In the following spring he finished runner-up in the American Jockey Club Cup before recording his second Grade 1 success in the spring edition of the Tenno Sho. As a five-year-old in 2020 he repeated his success in the spring Tenno Sho, ran second in the autumn edition of the same race and finished third in the Arima Kinen. Blast Onepiece, ( ja, ブラストワンピース, link=no, foaled 2 April 2015) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. After winning his only start as a two-year-old he improved to become the best colt of his generation in Japan in the following year. The Prix du Jockey Club, sometimes referred to as the French Derby, is a Group 1 flat horse race in France open to three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run at Chantilly over a distance of 2,100 metres (about 1 mile and 2½ furlongs) each year in early June. History The format of the race was inspired by the English Derby, and it was named in homage to the Jockey Club based at Newmarket in England.
