2019 English Cricket Season
The 2019 English cricket season ran between 26 March and 26 September. It was the 120th in which the County Championship has been an official competition and featured first-class, one-day and Twenty20 cricket competitions throughout England and Wales. The season saw the 2019 Cricket World Cup played in the country between 30 May and 14 July, followed by an Ashes tour by Australia in August and September. Pakistan took part in a one-day tour before the World Cup and the England men's team played a One Day International in Ireland and a Test match against Ireland at Lord's, the first Test between the two teams. The West Indies and Australian women's sides both toured during the season. 2019 County Championship
The 2019 County Championship, known for sponsorship reasons as the 2019 Specsavers County Championship, was the 120th cricket County Championship season. As in 2018, Division One had eight teams and Division Two had ten teams. The first round of matches began on 5 April and the final round of matches ended on 26 September. Surrey were the defending champions. At the end of the 2019 season only one team was relegated with three promoted. Therefore, from 2020 onwards, Division One would feature ten teams and Division Two would feature eight. Freya Davies
Freya Ruth Davies (born 27 October 1995) is an English cricketer who plays for Sussex, Southern Vipers, Welsh Fire and England as a right-arm fast-medium bowler. She made her Sussex debut in 2010 at the age of fourteen, and played her first match for England in 2019. Early life Davies was born on 27 October 1995 in Chichester, West Sussex. When Davies was a young child, her father, and her older brother Jack, both played for the family's local cricket club, Chichester. At the age of 8, Davies decided to join in, and played her first hard-ball game with Jack's under-11 team. Rory Burns
Rory Joseph Burns (born 26 August 1990) is an English cricketer who plays internationally for the England Test cricket team. In domestic cricket, he captains Surrey in first-class and List A cricket. Burns made his Test debut in 2018. He led Surrey to the 2018 and 2022 County Championship titles. He plays as a left-handed opening batsman. Tamsin Tilley Beaumont (born 11 March 1991) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Kent, The Blaze, Welsh Fire, Sydney Thunder and England. She plays primarily as an opening batter and occasional wicket-keeper. She has previously played for Surrey Stars, Adelaide Strikers, Southern Vipers, Melbourne Renegades and London Spirit. Benjamin Andrew Stokes (born 4 June 1991) is an English international cricketer who is the captain of the England Test team and plays for the England Twenty20 International (T20I) team. Sophie Natasha Luff (born 6 December 1993) is an English cricketer who plays for Somerset, Western Storm and London Spirit as a right-handed batter. Career Luff came from a cricketing family in Lympsham, near Weston-super-Mare; both her father and brother also play cricket. Lancashire Women Cricket Team
The Lancashire Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Lancashire. They play their home games at various grounds across the county, including Beaconsfield Road, Widnes. They are coached by Chris Chambers and captained by Eleanor Threlkeld. They won both the County Championship and the Twenty20 Cup in 2017. Lancashire have links with Cumbria, with some players playing for both sides, as well as some of their players helping make up a North Representative XI. The Warwickshire Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Warwickshire. They play their home games at Edgbaston Foundation Sports Ground, Birmingham, and are captained by Marie Kelly. In 2019, they won the Women's Twenty20 Cup. They are partnered with the regional side Central Sparks. 2019 Women's Twenty20 Cup
The 2019 Women's Twenty20 Cup, known for sponsorship reasons as the 2019 Vitality Women's Twenty20 Cup was the 11th cricket Women's Twenty20 Cup tournament. It took place in June, with 35 teams taking part: 33 county teams plus Scotland and Wales. Warwickshire Women won the Twenty20 Cup, as winners of Division 1, therefore achieving their first title. The tournament followed the 50-over 2019 Women's County Championship, and was subsequently followed by the Twenty20 2019 Women's Cricket Super League, competed for by regional teams. Competition Format Teams played matches within a series of divisions with the winners of the top division being crowned the Champions. Matches were played using a Twenty20 format. Bethany Alicia Langston (born 6 September 1992) is an English cricketer who played six matches for the England women's cricket team: twice in 2013 and four times in 2016. Katie Cordelia Thompson (born 28 September 1996) is an English cricketer who plays as a slow left-arm unorthodox bowler. Sophia Ivy Rose Dunkley (born 16 July 1998) is an English cricketer who plays for Surrey, South East Stars, Welsh Fire, Gujarat Giants and England.
