2019 Dallas Mayoral Election
On May 4, 2019, the city of Dallas, Texas, held an election to choose the next Mayor of Dallas. The election began as a nonpartisan blanket primary, no candidate took a majority of over 50% of the total vote so the two top vote-earners Eric Johnson (Texas politician), Eric Johnson and Scott Griggs advanced to a runoff election on June 8. Incumbent mayor Mike Rawlings was unable to run for reelection due to term limits. Dallas also concurrently elected all 14 members of its city council, and 3 of the 9 total members of the Dallas Independent School District. Johnson won the runoff with 55.61%. The 2000 United States House of Representatives elections in Texas occurred on November 7, 2000, to elect the members of the state of Texas's delegation to the United States House of Representatives. Victoria Neave
Victoria Neave Criado (born December 29, 1980) is an American attorney and a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 107 in Dallas County, Texas. In the general election held on November 8, 2016, she unseated Republican Representative Kenneth Sheets in the most expensive Texas House race of the 2016 cycle. Neave was sworn into office on January 10, 2017. Neave was arrested in June 2017 on a Driving While Intoxicated charge after she allegedly crashed her BMW into a tree within district 107 at 11:30 p.m. She allegedly repeatedly told arresting officers that "I love you and I want to fight for you, and I invoke the Fifth Amendment." Linda Koop
Linda Lee Fielding Koop (born June 21, 1950) is a former eight-year member of the Dallas City Council and a Republican former two-term state representative from Dallas County, Texas. Legislative Voting History In 2015, Linda Koop voted for Joe Straus as speaker of the house. She voted in favor of HB 80, which placed a ban on texting and driving. Koop regularly has voted in favor of bills relating to occupational licensing such as HB 2267 (which would require an anesthesiologist assistant to obtain a license before practicing) and HB 1260 (which would require an occupational license for shrimp loading and off loading).
