2018 Venezuelan Primera División Season
The 2018 Primera División season, officially Liga de Fútbol Profesional Venezolano or ''Liga FUTVE'', was the 37th professional season of Venezuela's top-flight football league. Monagas were the defending champions, but did not qualify to the Serie Final, after being eliminated in the regular season of the Torneo Apertura and by Caracas in the quarter-finals of the Torneo Clausura. Zamora were the champions, defeating Deportivo Lara on the Serie Final, 5–1 on aggregate. Teams Stadia and locations Gran Valencia reached the final of the Segunda División and earned promotion to the Primera División, but the team was suspended "temporarily" by the Honorary Council of the FVF after forfeiting the second leg of the final. Venezuelan Primera División
The Primera División (; ), or Liga Venezolana (; ) is the top-flight professional football league of Venezuela. It was created in 1921 and turned professional in 1957. It is organized by the Federación Venezolana de Fútbol. Format Starting in the 2020 season, 20 teams play in a home-and-away round-robin tournament, with the top eight teams advancing to the semi-final stage. At the semi-final stage, the eight teams are divided into two groups of four teams each, facing the other teams in their group twice. The two group winners advance to the Serie Final to decide the league champions. Metropolitanos FC
Metropolitanos Fútbol Club is a Venezuelan professional football club based in Caracas. Founded in 2012, they play in the Venezuelan Primera División, holding home matches at the Estadio Olímpico de la UCV. History Founded on 3 August 2012 under the name of ''Deportivo Metropolitano'', the club took Lara FC's place in the Segunda División for the 2012–13 season, as the latter had severe financial problems. After Lara's dissolution, Unión Lara SC was refounded and started to play in the Tercera División. Deportivo La Guaira (formerly known as Real Esppor) is a professional football club promoted to the Venezuelan league in 2009, based in La Guaira but playing its home games in Caracas at the Estadio Olímpico de la UCV. Trujillanos FC
Trujillanos Fútbol Club is a Venezuelan football team playing at the top level, the Primera División Venezolana. It is based in Valera. Their home stadium is Estadio Luis Loreto Lira. The 2019 Primera División season, officially Liga de Fútbol Profesional Venezolano or ''Liga FUTVE'', was the 38th professional season of Venezuela's top-flight football league. Zamora were the defending champions, but in the ''Torneo Apertura'' they were knocked out by Mineros in the quarter-finals and in the ''Torneo Clausura'' they failed to advance to the knockout stage. The champions were Caracas, who won the Torneo Clausura by defeating Deportivo Táchira in the final and then went on to beat Apertura winners Estudiantes de Mérida in the Serie Final on penalties to claim their twelfth league title. Estudiantes de Caracas Sport Club is a Venezuelan professional football club based in Caracas. It was established as a professional team in July 2014, debuting in the Venezuelan Segunda División for the 2014–15 season and earning promotion to the top tier at the end of that season. They play their games at the Estadio Brígido Iriarte.
