2018 ITTF Men's World Cup
The 2018 ITTF Men's World Cup was a table tennis competition held in Paris, France, from 19 to 21 October 2018. It was the 39th edition of the ITTF-sanctioned event, and the third time that it had been staged in Paris. In the final, China's Fan Zhendong defeated Timo Boll of Germany, 4–1, to win his second World Cup title. Qualification In total, 20 players qualified for the World Cup: * 18 players from the five Continental Cups held during 2018 * A host association representative * A wild card, selected by the ITTF A maximum of two players from each association could qualify. As reigning World Champion, China's Ma Long was invited to take part, but withdrew prior to the event. Gustavo Tsuboi
Gustavo Tsuboi (born 31 May 1985, São Paulo) is a table tennis player from Brazil, he won three medals in double and team events in the Pan American Games. Along with Hugo Hoyama and Thiago Monteiro, Tsuboi was part of the winning team at the 2007 Pan American Games and 2011 Pan American Games. Tsuboi won the gold medal at the inaugural 2011 Latin American Cup held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil after defeating Paraguay's Marcelo Aguirre 4–0. Tsuboi competed in table tennis at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Career 2021 In March, Tsuboi played in WTT Doha. Hugo Marinho Borges Calderano (born 22 June 1996, in Rio de Janeiro) is a table tennis player from Brazil. In January 2022, he peaked at number 3 in the world rankings, becoming the greatest Americas player of all time. He is the first-ever player from Latin America to reach the Top 10 of the ITTF World Rankings. Calderano is also well known for beating China's Fan Zhendong at the quarterfinals of the 2018 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals in Incheon, South Korea. The 2018 ITTF Pan-America Cup was a table tennis competition that took place from 15–17 June in Asunción, Paraguay. The event was organised by the Paraguay Table Tennis Federation, under the authority of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). It was the second edition of the event.
