2018 Donegal County Football Team Season
The following is a summary of Donegal county football team's 2018 season. Personnel changes Declan Bonner began his second spell in charge of the team. John McElholm was appointed team trainer and Gary Boyle coach. Paul Fisher led the strength and conditioning team, Ronan Doherty joined as nutritionist and Cathal Ellis was there as physiotherapist, psychologist Anthony McGrath and video analyst Chris Byrne. Karl Lacey also became part of the coaching team ahead of the 2018 season. Nathan Mullins, son of former Dublin player Brian Mullins, Brian, played for Donegal during the 2018 season. Donegal County Football Team
The Donegal county football team ( ) represents Donegal in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Donegal GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Ulster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Donegal's home ground is MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey. The team's manager is Paddy Carr. Niall O'Donnell
Niall O'Donnell (born 1998) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for St Eunan's and the Donegal county team. The ''Irish Independents Colm Keys named O'Donnell among his "18 for 08: The brightest young talents" in Gaelic football, describing him as "both elusive and skilful". He is the younger brother of Conor O'Donnell Snr, the eldest of the St Eunan's Conor O'Donnells. Education O'Donnell attended St Eunan's College, where he played for the school team. Jason McGee
Jason McGee (born 1997/8) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Cloich Cheann Fhaola and the Donegal county team. He is a former Australian rules football trialist. Playing career Minor McGee has an Ulster Minor Football Championship medal. He was part of the team that reached the 2016 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship semi-final. McGee was joint-captain of the Donegal minor team with Niall O'Donnell. Senior McGee made his senior debut for Donegal against Kerry in the opening fixture of the 2017 National Football League. Michael Carroll (Gaelic Footballer)
Michael Carroll is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Gaoth Dobhair and the Donegal county team. Playing career Club Carroll's parent club is Gaoth Dobhair. He went to Boston for the summer in 2018 where, alongside county teammate Eoin McHugh, he won the Boston Senior Football Championship with Donegal Boston. Carroll won a Donegal Senior Football Championship medal with his club Gaoth Dobhair in 2018. He then played during Gaoth Dobhair's first ever Ulster Senior Club Football Championship-winning campaign later in 2018, a run which involved a quarter final defeat of Cargin (a game in which Carroll scored a goal and three points), a semi-final defeat of eleven-time winners Crossmaglen Rangers, and culminated in the club defeating Scotstown (who had won the competition on four previous occasions), the last two of these games occurring at Healy Park in Omagh. Eoin McHugh
Eoin McHugh (born 1994/5) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Cill Chartha and the Donegal county team. He is the only son of James McHugh, a member of the team that defeated Dublin in the 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final. His uncle Martin was also a member of that team. Playing career Club With his club Cill Chartha, McHugh won the 2012 Donegal Minor Football Championship. He scored six points in the final and his use of both feet in executing these scores during a man of the match display was praised in the press. McHugh won the 2017 Donegal Senior Football Championship. It was the first time his club had won the title in 24 years. Mark Anthony McGinley
Mark Anthony McGinley is an Irish sportsperson. He has played Gaelic football as a goalkeeper for St Michael's and was formerly number one keeper with his county team, Donegal. McGinley has also been involved in the sport of association football and currently plays in the League of Ireland Premier Division with Finn Harps. He is from Ards, County Donegal. Peter Boyle (Gaelic Footballer)
Peter Boyle is an Irish Gaelic footballer who has played as a goalkeeper for Aodh Ruadh and the Donegal county team. Playing career Boyle played throughout the 2010 Ulster Under-21 Football Championship campaign, and made noteworthy contributions during the four-point semi-final victory over Derry. He was still a minor. He then played in the final of the 2010 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship, which Donegal (managed by Jim McGuinness) narrowly lost to Dublin (managed by Jim Gavin). His prospects at senior level under McGuinness's management were limited by the presence of established number one Paul Durcan and, also by Michael Boyle. The Kildare county football team represents Kildare in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Kildare GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Shaun Patton
Shaun Patton (born 1995) is an Irish goalkeeper who has played in that position in two different sports. A former professional soccer player in the League of Ireland with Derry City, Finn Harps and Sligo Rovers, Patton changed to Gaelic football in 2018, playing for St Eunan's and the Donegal county team. He has twice won the Ulster Senior Football Championship with Donegal. Early life Patton is from Letterkenny. He went to primary school at Lurgybrack in Letterkenny. He attended St Eunan's College for his secondary education. Patton played in a MacLarnon Cup Final for the college. He did so while on the books of Finn Harps, a soccer team. 2015 Dr McKenna Cup
The 2015 Dr McKenna Cup, known for sponsorship reasons as the Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup, was an inter-county and colleges hurling competition in the province of Ulster. As well as the nine county teams, three colleges' teams competed: St Mary's University College, Belfast, Queen's University Belfast and Ulster University. The final was broadcast live on BBC Sport NI. Format The teams are drawn into three groups of four teams. Each team plays the other teams in its group once, earning 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. The three group winners, and the best runner-up progress to the semi-finals. The ''Donegal News'' (also known as ''Derry People/Donegal News'' and formerly ''Derry People'') is a twice-weekly local newspaper in the northwest of the island of Ireland, first published in 1902.
