2017–18 Wigan Athletic F.C. Season
The 2017–18 season was Wigan Athletic F.C., Wigan Athletic's 86th year in existence and their first back in EFL League One, League One, after being relegated the 2016–17 EFL Championship, previous season. Along with competing in the league, the club also participated in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy. Paul Cook (footballer), Paul Cook was appointed as manager on 31 May 2017, signing a 3-year deal, following the departure of much of the previous coaching staff the day before. Wigan ( ) is a town in Greater Manchester, England. The town is midway between the two cities of Manchester, to the south-east, and Liverpool, to the south-west. Noel Hunt
Noel Hunt (born 26 December 1982) is an Irish football manager and former professional footballer who is the head coach at Reading. A striker, he began his career in Ireland with Shamrock Rovers, also playing for Waterford United on loan. He moved to Scotland in 2003, where he played for Dunfermline Athletic and Dundee United. He has played in England since 2008, with spells at Reading, Leeds United, Ipswich Town, Southend United, Portsmouth and Wigan Athletic, prior to returning to Ireland and rejoining Waterford 2018. Gavin Alexander Massey (born 4 October 1992) is an English professional association football, footballer who last played as a Forward (association football), forward or Right winger, winger for club AFC Fylde. Terell Mondasia Thomas (born 18 October 1995) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for side Carlisle United. Born in England, he plays for the Saint Lucia national team. Thomas started at Arsenal before signing his first professional contract in June 2015 with Charlton Athletic. He went on to enjoy two loan spells at National League side Woking.
