2017–18 Primera Divisió
The 2017–18 Primera Divisió, also known as Lliga Multisegur Assegurances, was the 23rd season of top-tier football in Andorra. The season began on 17 September 2017 and ended on 20 May 2018. The defending champions are FC Santa Coloma having won their eleventh championship the previous season. The winner of the league this season will earn a place in the preliminary round of the 2018–19 Champions League, and the second-placed club will earn a place in the preliminary round of the 2018–19 Europa League. Teams Inter Club d'Escaldes earned a place in the Primera Divisió this season by winning the 2016–17 Segona Divisió. Penya Encarnada will join them after defeating Ordino in a play-off. Primera Divisió
The Primera Divisió (First Division) or Lliga Multisegur Assegurances for sponsorship reasons, is the top level of men's football in Andorra. The league was launched in 1995 sponsored by the local federation (Andorran Football Federation) which was created just one year before. Until then, clubs had played since 1970 in an amateur league without a structure or affiliation with any official institution. Since affiliation to UEFA and FIFA in 1996, Andorran clubs are able to compete in the UEFA competitions. Until 2015 the league was known as ''Lliga Grup Becier'' and during 2016 ''Lliga Grup Sant Eloi''. It was renamed in 2017 as Lliga Multisegur Assegurances for sponsorship reasons. All the teams in the league play in the same stadiums owned by the federation. The same occurs in all other Andorran competitions, such as the Copa Constitució and Supercopa. Albert Virgili Fort (born 12 February 1983) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a striker. Club career Born in Tarragona, Catalonia, Virgili emerged through Gimnàstic de Tarragona's youth ranks. Kevin Nicolás 'Nico' Ratti Fredes (born 18 September 1993) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays for FC Andorra as a goalkeeper. He also holds Italian citizenship. Atlètic Club D'Escaldes
Atlètic Club d'Escaldes, also commonly known as Atlètic d'Escaldes, is an Andorran football club based in Escaldes-Engordany, currently playing in Primera Divisió. History Atlètic Club d'Escaldes was founded on 20 May 2002 in Escaldes-Engordany joining Segona Divisió the same year. At the end of 2003–04 season the club was promoted to Primera Divisió. The 2017–18 Segona Divisió, also known as the Lliga Biosphere, was the 19th season of second-tier football in Andorra. This season began on 23 September 2017 and ended on 13 May 2018. Inter Club d'Escaldes won the league in the previous season and were promoted along with second-placed Penya Encarnada to the 2017–18 Primera Divisió. Format Ten clubs competed for the league title. The clubs played each other twice for a total of 18 matches for each club. The three "B" teams could not be promoted. Five clubs then advanced to a play-off to determine which club would be promoted. The 2018–19 Segona Divisió, also known as Lliga Segona Divisió Sènior, was the 20th season of second-tier football in Andorra. The season began on 15 September 2018 and ended on 19 May 2019. After winning the league in the previous season, Ordino were promoted to the 2018–19 Primera Divisió. Format Eleven clubs competed for the league title. The clubs played each other twice for a total of 18 matches for each club. The three "B" teams could not be promoted. Six clubs then advanced to a play-off to determine which would earn promotion.
