2017–18 Kent State Golden Flashes Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Kent State Golden Flashes men's basketball team represented Kent State University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Golden Flashes, led by seventh-year head coach Rob Senderoff, played their home games at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center, also known as the MAC Center, as members of the East Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 17–17, 9–9 in MAC play to finish in second place in the MAC East division. They defeated 2017–18 Northern Illinois Huskies men's basketball team, Northern Illinois and 2017–18 Ball State Cardinals men's basketball team, Ball State in the 2018 MAC men's basketball tournament, MAC tournament before losing to 2017–18 Buffalo Bulls men's basketball team, Buffalo in the semifinals. Rob Senderoff
Robert Andrew Senderoff (born July 25, 1973) is the head men's basketball coach at Kent State University. The winningest and longest-tenured coach in program history, he has led the Flashes to a Mid-American Conference regular season title as well as NCAA Tournament appearances in 2017 and 2023. Personal and early life Senderoff is a native of Spring Valley, New York. He played basketball for his high school team. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from University at Albany in 1995, and was also a student assistant with the basketball program. He then moved on to Miami University, where he was a graduate assistant and earned a master's degree in sports studies in 1997. He is married to Lauren (née Edelstein), with two children, Ray and Samantha. He is Jewish, and is a member of Temple Beth Shalom in Hudson, Ohio, and lives in Stow, Ohio. 2008 MAC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2008 Mid-American Conference men's basketball tournament was the post-season men's basketball tournament for the Mid-American Conference (MAC) 2007–2008 season. It was won by the #1 seed Kent State Golden Flashes, who defeated their arch-rival and #3 seed Akron Zips 74–55 in front of 12,942 fans. Kent State center Haminn Quaintance led all scorers with 16 points and was named the tournament MVP. The basketball tournament took place March 12 through March 15 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. FSN Ohio televised the quarterfinals and semifinals while ESPN2 broadcast the tournament championship nationally. Savannah Civic Center
The Savannah Civic Center is a multi-purpose facility located in Savannah, Georgia, in Savannah Historic District. Built in 1974, the facility consists of an arena, theater, ballroom, and exhibit halls. Throughout the years, the center has hosted various concerts, conventions, exhibits, high school and college graduations, trade shows, theatre, ballet, and comedy shows. Each year, the civic center hosts nearly 900 events, including the Savannah Tire Hockey Classic, which awards the "Thrasher Cup" and numerous meetings are held in the building's meeting wings. Kent is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the largest city in Portage County, Ohio, Portage County. It is located along the Cuyahoga River in Northeast Ohio on the western edge of the county.
