2017–18 AFC Ajax Season
During the 2017–18 season, Ajax participated in the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup. They also participated in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League but couldn't get past the qualification stage for either competitions. This marked the first time that Ajax did not qualify for the group stage of a UEFA club competition since the 1990–91 season, when they were excluded from competing in European football for a year due to the staafincident. The squad's first training took place on 29 June 2017. André Onana Onana (born 2 April 1996) is a Cameroonian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Manchester United. Onana joined Barcelona's youth system in 2010. Lasse Schöne (; born 27 May 1986) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder or winger for Eredivisie club NEC and the Denmark national team. Carel Willem Hendrik Eiting (born 11 February 1998) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Eredivisie club Volendam. Club career Ajax Eiting is a youth exponent from Ajax. Amin Younes (born 6 August 1993) is a German professional footballer who plays as a winger for Dutch club Utrecht, on loan from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq, and the Germany national team. Dirk Jan Klaas "Klaas-Jan" Huntelaar (; born 12 August 1983) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a striker.
