2017 Kenyan Premier League
The 2017 Kenyan Premier League (known as the SportPesa Premier League for sponsorship reasons) is the 14th season of the Kenyan Premier League since it began in 2003, and the 54th season of top-division football in Kenya since 1963. It began on 11 March and is scheduled to end on 18 November. Tusker were the defending champions, going into the season on the back of their 11th league title. The Kenyan Premier League was expanded to 18 teams, of which 14 returned from the 2016 season. Kariobangi Sharks, Nakumatt, Nzoia Sugar (formerly Nzoia United) and Zoo Kericho were promoted from the second-tier National Super League. On 21 October 2017, Gor Mahia secured their record 16th league title with four games to spare after beating Ulinzi Stars 3–1 at the Kericho Green Stadium. New George V Stadium is a football stadium in Curepipe, Mauritius. The stadium holds 6,500 people. Plaines Wilhems District
Plaines Wilhems () is a district of Mauritius. It is the most populous district, with its population estimated at 366,506 as the end of 2018. The district is mainly urban; it consists of four towns, the village of Midlands and part of two other villages. The Plaines Wilhems district does not have a District Council; it has four Municipal Town Councils. The towns are Beau-Bassin Rose-Hill, Curepipe, Quatre Bornes and Vacoas-Phoenix. The villages are Midlands, Cascavelle (East - West in Rivière Noire district) and Moka (West- East in Moka district). The district was named after Wilhem Leicknig. Curepipe
Curepipe () also known as ''La Ville-Lumière'' (The City of Light), is a town in Mauritius, located in the Plaines Wilhems District, the eastern part also lies in the Moka District. The town is administered by the Municipal Council of Curepipe. Curepipe lies at a higher elevation, often referred to as the "Central Plateau". According to the census made by Statistics Mauritius in 2018, the population of the town was at 78,618. Etymology The town's name, Curepipe, is said to be originated from the French ''curer sa pipe'', which translates to "cleaning his/her pipe". There are several theories by historians as to the naming of the city. Some historians believe that the name was given as travellers and soldiers from the 19th century often travelled from Port Louis and Grand Port (now Mahébourg) to refill their pipes in Curepipe. Ethiopian Football Federation
The Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) ( Amharic: የኢትዮጵያ እግር ኳስ ፌዴሬሽን) is the governing body of football in Ethiopia. It organizes all tiers of the national football league and the national team. It was one of the founding members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). History The Ethiopian Football Federation was founded in 1943 and became affiliated with FIFA in 1952. In 1957 the EFF along with its Egyptian, Sudanese, and South African counterparts founded CAF. In October 2013, the federation elected Juneidi Basha as its new president to replace Sahilu Gebrewold. Beating out three other candidates, Basha received the majority of votes (55 of the 101 votes) at the Federation's General assembly. Belay Tadesse
Belaying is a variety of techniques climbers use to create friction within a climbing system, particularly on a climbing rope, so that a falling climber does not fall very far. Moi International Sports Centre
The Moi International Sports Centre (abbreviated as MISC) is a multi-purpose stadium in Kasarani, Kenya. It was built in 1987 for the All-Africa Games held in Nairobi. The facilities include a 60,000 seat arena with a running track and a pitch used for football and rugby union, a competition size swimming pool, an indoor arena and a 108-bed capacity hotel. Located at 1,612 metres above sea level, it is slightly above 1 mile in altitude. The stadium was closed in January 2010 for renovation works worth KSh.900 million/= and funded by a grant to the Government of Kenya by the Government of China. Chinese firm, Sheng Li Engineering Construction Company Limited was contracted to conduct the renovations and the stadium was reopened in March 2012 after completion of the renovations. Nairobi County
Nairobi City County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya. With a population of 4,397,073 in the 2019 census, it is the third smallest yet the most populous of the counties, also serving as the capital of Kenya. In 2013, the county entity was effected, replacing Nairobi City Council, the long-standing unit of administration since pre-independence. The city county consists of eleven gazetted sub-counties and eighty five electoral wards. Kasarani is a commercial and residential neighbourhood in Nairobi. Kasarani is also used in reference to the city's sub-county with the same name, which spans through neighbourhoods in the northeastern areas of Nairobi. Located within the larger Kasarani area, the Kasarani enclave is approximately northeast of Nairobi's central business district off Thika Road.
