2017 World Championships In Athletics – Women's Pole Vault
The women's pole vault at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Olympic Stadium on 4 and 6 August. Summary It essentially took a clearance at 4.50 metres to make it into the final. The one clearance (with earlier misses) brought 13 still in at 4.55 metres each thinking there was more work to do. Lisa Ryzih, Sandi Morris and Robeilys Peinado remained perfect at 4.55 metres, with Olympic Champion Katerina Stefanidi passing all the way until the automatic qualifier height of 4.60 metres. In the final, four women were perfect to 4.55 metres including home team favourite, Holly Bradshaw, Yarisley Silva, Peinado and Morris with Stefanidi again still passing. Fabiana de Almeida Murer (born 16 March 1981) is a retired Brazilian pole vaulter. She holds the South American record in the event with an indoor best of 4.82 m and an outdoor best of 4.87 m, making her the fourth highest vaulter ever at the time, now the eighth. She won gold medals at the 2011 World Championships, 2010 World Indoor Championships, and 2007 Pan American Games. Murer represented Brazil at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. Li Ling (; born 6 July 1989) is a Chinese athlete, who specialises in the pole vault. She competed at the 2006 World Junior Championships, but no-heighted in the final. She achieved indoor and outdoor personal bests in 2008, clearing 4.45 metres indoors in Beijing in February and repeating the feat outdoors two months later in Hangzhou.
