The 2017 3. deild karla (English: ''Men's Third Division'') was the 5th season of fourth-tier Icelandic football in its ten team league format. The league began on 12 May and concluded on 16 September. Teams The league was contested by ten clubs. Reynir Sandgerði
Reynir Sandgerði, sometimes known as Reynir S., is an Icelandic sports club based in Sandgerði on the Reykjanes peninsular. The club has active departments in football, basketball and swimming. Basketball Reynir Sandgerði's basketball department was founded in 1980. It played in the top-tier Úrvalsdeild karla during the 1989–1990 season. In 2021, the team won 2. deild karla and was promoted to 1. deild karla. Prior to the start of the 2021–2022 season, the team withdrew from competition. Garðabær () is a municipality in the Capital Region of Iceland. History Garðabær is a growing town in the Capital Region. It is the sixth largest town in Iceland with a population of 13,872 (Sept 1, 2013). The site of Garðabær has been inhabited since Iceland was first settled in the 9th century. Landnámabók, the Book of Settlement, tells of two farms on the site of Garðabær: Vífilsstaðir and Skúlastaðir. The former was named after Vífill, who was a slave of Ingólfur Arnarson, the first settler of Iceland. Ingólfur gave Vífill his freedom and he made his home at Vífilsstaðir. Þorlákshöfn
Þorlákshöfn () is a town on the southern coast of Iceland in the Municipality of Ölfus. The town is named after Saint Thorlak who was a bishop at Skálholt. Its main importance is as a port as it has the only harbour on Iceland's southern coastline between Grindavík in the west and Höfn in the east. The port serves a direct weekly cargo ferries to Rotterdam and Hirtshals operated by Faroese Smyril Line. It is also one of two departure points for ferries to the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago. Akranes () is a port town and municipality on the west coast of Iceland, around north of the capital Reykjavík. The area where Akranes is located was settled in the 9th century; however, it did not receive a municipal charter until 1942.
