2016–17 UAB Blazers Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 UAB Blazers basketball team represented the University of Alabama at Birmingham during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Blazers, led by first-year head coach Robert Ehsan, played their home games at the Bartow Arena as members of Conference USA. They finished the season 17–16, 9–9 in 2016–17 Conference USA men's basketball season, C-USA play to finish in a tie for seventh place. Robert Ehsan
Robert Hassan Ehsan ( ; born May 3, 1982) is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach for the UIC Flames men's basketball, UIC Flames. From 2016–2020, he was the head men's basketball coach at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). A native of Sacramento, California, Ehsan was a four-year player at UC Davis Aggies men's basketball, UC Davis. He was a team captain as a senior in 2005. Ehsan served as an assistant coach at the University of Maryland from 2008 to 2011. When Gary Williams resigned, Ehsan was named interim head coach. He spent a season as an assistant at Virginia Tech before becoming an assistant coach at UAB Blazers men's basketball, UAB in 2012. Jerod Haase
Jerod Albert Haase (born April 1, 1974) is an American college basketball coach. He was the head coach for Stanford Cardinal men's team of the Pac-12 Conference from 2016 to 2024. Haase played college basketball at the University of California, Berkeley from 1992 to 1993, and then transferred to the University of Kansas to play under Roy Williams from 1994 to 1997. Haase was a Naismith and Wooden Award candidate while at Kansas. At Kansas, he only missed two games out of 101 and averaged 12.5 points per game, scoring 1,246 points over the span of his career. He was a member of the Big Eight all defensive team as a junior, and played at the World University Games in 1995. He then spent 13 years as an assistant under Williams at both Kansas and North Carolina before starting his own head coaching career. Central Catholic High School (CCHS or Central Catholic) is a private co-educational Catholic high school in Bloomington, Illinois, United States. The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Maryland, United States. Nate Darling
Nathan Joseph Darling (born August 30, 1998) is a Canadian professional basketball player for the San Diego Clippers of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the UAB Blazers and the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens. He is the first and only Blue Hens player in NBA history. High school career Darling attended DeMatha Catholic High School and was teammates with top recruit Markelle Fultz and football star Chase Young.
