2016–17 Stony Brook Seawolves Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Stony Brook Seawolves men's basketball team represented Stony Brook University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Seawolves were led by first-year head coach Jeff Boals and played their home games at Island Federal Credit Union Arena in Stony Brook, New York as members of the America East Conference. They finished the season 18–14, 12–4 in America East play to finish in second place. As the No. 2 seed in the America East tournament, they defeated Binghamton before losing to Albany in the semifinals. They were invited to the College Basketball Invitational where they lost in the first round to UIC. Previous season The Seawolves finished the 2015–16 season 26–7, 14–2 in America East play to win the regular season championship. Jeff Boals
Jeff Boals (born September 5, 1972) is the head coach of the Ohio Bobcats men's basketball team. Boals spent seven years as an assistant coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes men's basketball team under the tutelage of Thad Matta. In his first head coaching job, he replaced Steve Pikiell as the head coach for the Stony Brook Seawolves for three years. Playing career A 1995 graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences, Boals was a four-year letterwinner on the Bobcats' basketball team. Also a two-year captain, he helped guide Ohio to a 1994 MAC regular season and tournament championship to send the Bobcats to the NCAA tournament, the next season the program won the Preseason National Invitation tournament. 2016 America East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2016 America East men's basketball tournament took place on March 2, 7, and 12, 2016. The entire tournament took place on campus sites with the higher-seeded school hosting each game throughout the championship. The winner of the championship game earned an automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA tournament. Seeds Teams were seeded by conference record, with ties broken by record between the tied teams followed by record against the regular-season champion, if necessary. UC Iroegbu
Uchenna "U.C." Iroegbu (born 20 August 1996) is an American-Nigerian professional basketball player, who currently plays for Al-Shamal of the Qatari Basketball League. He played college basketball for Stony Brook. Standing at , he is a point guard and has represented the Nigeria national basketball team. Jameel Marcus Warney (born January 31, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the Seoul SK Knights of the Korean Basketball League. He played college basketball for the Stony Brook Seawolves, leading the team to its first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament and graduating as the school's all-time leader in several career categories. After going undrafted, Warney became the first Stony Brook player to reach the NBA when he made his debut with the Dallas Mavericks on March 11, 2018. Warney continued to play in the G League and was traded to the Westchester Knicks in 2019 before moving his career overseas and signing with the Seoul SK Knights of the Korean Basketball League later that year. The Ferris State Bulldogs (FSU Bulldogs) are the athletic teams that represent Ferris State University, located in Big Rapids, Michigan, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sporting competitions.
