2016–17 SMU Mustangs Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 SMU Mustangs men's basketball team represented Southern Methodist University (SMU) during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Mustangs were led by first-year head coach Tim Jankovich and played their home games on their campus in University Park, Texas at Moody Coliseum. They were members of the American Athletic Conference. They finished the season 30–5, 17–1 in AAC play to win the AAC regular season championship. In the AAC tournament, they defeated East Carolina, UCF, and Cincinnati to win the tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Tim Jankovich
Timothy Robert Jankovich (born June 4, 1959) is a former American college basketball coach and former head coach at Southern Methodist University. During his first year (2007–08) at Illinois State, Jankovich led the Redbirds to a 13–5 second-place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference – even though pre-season polls voted the team to be a fifth-place finisher. He was an assistant basketball coach at Kansas for four years, and served under current Kansas head coach Bill Self at Kansas and Illinois. He has also served as an assistant coach at Kansas State, Colorado State, Oklahoma State, Texas and Vanderbilt. He played college basketball at Washington State and Kansas State. While at Colorado State, his teams posted three consecutive winning seasons en route to the best period of college basketball in school history. 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2016 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 68 teams playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the men's National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college basketball national champion for the 2015–16 season. Arkansas Razorbacks Men's Basketball
The Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball team represents the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas in NCAA Division I men's basketball competition. Nic Moore (born July 1, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for Boulazac Basket Dordogne of the LNB Pro B. Moore played college basketball for the SMU Mustangs. He was named American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016. Moore previously competed for the Illinois State Redbirds. College career Moore played his freshman year at Illinois State, where he averaged 10.0 points and 3.9 assists per game and was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman team. Markus Kennedy (born August 3, 1991) is an American basketball player who last played for San Severo of the Serie A2 Basket. He competed in college for Villanova and SMU. College career Kennedy averaged 3.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game as a freshman at Villanova. After the season he opted to transfer to SMU to play under Larry Brown. As a sophomore, Kennedy averaged 12.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. He was suspended for the first semester of his junior season due to poor academic performance. North Texas Mean Green Men's Basketball
The North Texas Mean Green men's basketball team represents the University of North Texas (UNT) in NCAA Division I college basketball, competing as a member of Conference USA.
