2016–17 FC Nantes Season
Football Club de Nantes (, Gallo: ''Naunnt''), commonly referred to as FC Nantes or simply Nantes, is a French association football club based in Nantes, Pays de la Loire. During the 2016–17 campaign, they competed in the following competitions: Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue. Players First team squad French teams are limited to four players without EU citizenship. Hence, the squad list includes only the principal nationality of each player; several non-European players on the squad have dual citizenship with an EU country. Also, players from the ACP countries—countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific that are signatories to the Cotonou Agreement—are not counted against non-EU quotas due to the Kolpak ruling. The club was founded on 21 April 1943, during World War II, as a result of local clubs based in the city coming together to form one large club. Lucas Pedro Alves de Lima (born 10 October 1991), known as Lucas Lima, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a left-back for İstanbul Başakşehir. The ''Kolpak'' ruling is a European Court of Justice ruling handed down on 8 May 2003 in favour of Maroš Kolpak, a Slovak handball player. The Cotonou Agreement (French: ''Accord de Cotonou'') is a treaty between the European Union (EU) and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States ("ACP countries"). It was signed in June 2000 in Cotonou, Benin's largest city, by 78 ACP countries (Cuba did not sign) and the then fifteen EU member states.
