2016 Spikers' Turf Open Conference
The Spikers' Turf 2nd Season Open Conference is the 4th conference of the Spikers' Turf, the Philippines' only men's indoor volleyball league in the country and the first conference for its second season. The open conference will start on May 28, 2016 at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan. Six (6) volleyball clubs will compete in this year's Open Conference. Spikers' Turf
The Spikers' Turf is the top-level men's semi-professional volleyball league in the Philippines organized by the Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. (Sports Vision), established in 2015. History The league had its beginnings in 2014, when the Shakey's V-League introduced a men's division during its Shakey's V-League 11th Season Reinforced Open Conference, 21st conference. The following year, Sports Vision decided to spin off the men's division as a separate league, giving birth to the Spikers' Turf. In late-2016, Sports Vision announced that the league be merged back in the 2017 season with the Shakey's V-League (which was renamed as the Premier Volleyball League; PVL). The men's division in the PVL ended with the 2018 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, 2018 PVL Collegiate Conference as its final tournament. The Philippine Navy Sea Lions is the official men's volleyball team of the Philippine Navy. The team competes in the Spikers' Turf tournament and is composed of enlisted personnel and reinforced with civilian players. 2016 Spikers' Turf Season
The Spikers' Turf 2nd Season was the second season of the men's volleyball league Spikers' Turf, the counterpart of the women's Shakey's V-League. In 2014, the Shakey's V-League introduced a men's division during its 21st conference. The following year, Sports Vision, the organizers of the Shakey's V-League decided to spin off the men's vision as a separate tournament, giving birth to the Spikers' Turf. The Philippine Institute of Sports Multi-Purpose Arena or PhilSports Arena is an indoor arena, indoor sporting arena located inside the PhilSports Complex in Pasig, Metro Manila, Philippines. It was formerly known as the University of Life Theater and Recreational Arena or the ULTRA. The arena is part of the PhilSports Complex which is maintained by the Philippine Sports Commission. The Blue Eagle Gym is a gymnasium located in the main campus of the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, Philippines. Unlike most gymnasiums, the basketball court is oriented perpendicular to the orientation of the building. History The indoor facility was built in 1949, three years before the Ateneo de Manila University moved from its Manila campus to its current main campus in Loyola Heights, Quezon City in 1952. Elena Ball Hammers is a professional volleyball team in the Philippines playing in various tournaments, including the Spikers' Turf (previously with the Premier Volleyball League) and Philippine Superliga (PSL). History The team debuted in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) as the Systema Active Smashers (under the sponsorship of Peerless Products Manufacturing Corporation), playing as one of the pioneer teams in the men's division. The Instituto Estetico Manila Volley Masters, are a former professional men's volleyball team playing in various tournaments, including the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) and the Spikers' Turf. The team was owned bInstituto Estetico Manila a dental and dermatological clinic. In 2014, the team joined the Philippine Super Liga in its 2014 All-Filipino Conference. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It previously played under various sponsorships.
