2016 Speedway Grand Prix Of Scandinavia
The 2016 Stockholm FIM Speedway Grand Prix was the ninth race of the 2016 Speedway Grand Prix season. It took place on 24 September at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. Riders The Speedway Grand Prix Commission nominated Jacob Thorssell as the wild card, and Peter Ljung and Linus Sundström both as Track Reserves. Second series reserve Michael Jepsen Jensen replaced the injured Nicki Pedersen, while Kim Nilsson replaced the injured Andreas Jonsson. Results The Grand Prix was won by Jason Doyle, who beat Chris Holder, Fredrik Lindgren and Matej Žagar in the final. It was Doyle's third successive Grand Prix win and, as a result, he took the lead in the world championship standings. Former series leader Greg Hancock, who was eliminated in the semi-finals, was five points back in second place with defending world champion Tai Woffinden in third. Tai Woffinden (born 10 August 1990) is a British speedway rider. He is a three-time World Champion (2013, 2015 and 2018). Early life Woffinden was born in Scunthorpe, the son of former speedway rider Rob Woffinden. Although born in the United Kingdom and competing as a British rider, Woffinden grew up in Perth, Western Australia after his parents Rob and Sue decided to move there in 1994. Career Woffinden began his career in junior speedway in Perth where he won the 2006 Western Australian Under-16 title, though he unfortunately missed riding in the Australian Under-16 Championship in Adelaide. He started his British career with the Scunthorpe Scorpions in the Conference League in 2006. Martin Smolinski (born 6 December 1984) is a German motorcycle speedway rider. He is three-times world longtrack champion and eight times champion of Germany. Personal life Smolinski was born on 6 December 1984 in Munich, West Germany. He is of Polish descent through his paternal grandfather from Katowice. Career Smolinksi began riding in his natiove Germany for MSC Olching. He became the German junior champion in 2003 and after reaching the final 2003 Speedway Under-21 World Championship he signed for Coventry Bees in England. Coventry retained him for the following two seasons and his form improved over the next two seasons. Patryk Dudek (; born 20 June 1992) is a Polish motorcycle speedway rider who is a member of the Poland national speedway team, Polish national speedway team. Career Dudek's father, Sławomir Dudek, Sławomir, was a professional rider and Patryk gained his speedway licence in 2008. Dudek won 2009 and 2010 Team Speedway Junior European Championship, Team U-19 European Champion and 2009 Individual Speedway Junior Polish Championship, 2009 Individual Under-21 Polish Champion titles. Career history Early career Harris began his racing career at the age of six and a half by competing in grasstrack events. Antonio Lindbäck (born 5 May 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden, who competed in the Speedway World Championship and was a member of the Swedish team who won the Speedway World Cup in 2004 and 2015. He earned 17 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. Peter Kildemand
Peter Kildemand (born 1 September 1989) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Denmark and was a member of the Danish national team. He is a two-time Speedway Grand Prix winner. Career Kildemand started riding in Britain for Workington Comets in 2010 and 2011, before signing for Coventry Bees mid-way through the 2011 season. He was a member of the Swindon Robins 2012 Elite League Championship winning team and was named "Rider of the Year" for the club at the end of the season. Kildemand was also part of the Fjelsted team that won the 2017 Danish Speedway League. He was captain of Västervik Speedway team in 2018.
