2016 Speedway Grand Prix Of Denmark
The 2016 Kjærgaard Danish FIM Speedway Grand Prix was the third race of the 2016 Speedway Grand Prix season. It took place on 11 June at the CASA Arena in Horsens, Denmark. Riders For the third successive Grand Prix first reserve Fredrik Lindgren replaced Jarosław Hampel, who had injured himself during the 2015 Speedway World Cup and was not fit to compete. The Speedway Grand Prix Commission also nominated Anders Thomsen as the wild card, and Mikkel Bech and Mikkel Michelsen both as Track Reserves. Results The Grand Prix was won by Maciej Janowski, who beat Chris Holder, Tai Woffinden and Nicki Pedersen in the final. Greg Hancock had top stored during the 20 qualifying heats, but was eliminated in the semi-finals after making a mistake. Despite finishing third, Woffinden joined Holder at the top of the standings on 39 points after outscoring his rival on the evening. Matic Ivačič (born 8 September 1993) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Slovenia. He is a four-time national champion. Honours In 2020, Ivačič became the Slovenian National Champion after winning the Slovenian Individual Speedway Championship, which ended the 18 year reign of Matej Žagar. Ivačič had previously won the silver medal behind Žagar in 2018 and 2019. In 2021, he became the Slovenia-Slovakia-Hungary National Champion and rode for Lendava. Nick Škorja (born 28 July 1998) is a Slovenian motorcycle speedway rider. Career Škorja appeared twice as a track reserve in the 2016 Speedway Grand Prix and once at the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix and 2018 Speedway Grand Prix. He has finished runner-up in the Slovenian Individual Speedway Championship in 2016, 2017, 2020 and 2022. He reached the finals of both the 2018 Speedway Under-21 World Championship and 2019 Speedway Under-21 World Championship. In 2019 he was selected for the Slovenian team for the 2019 Speedway of Nations. He would have made his British league debut for Newcastle Diamonds in 2020 but the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Denis Štojs (born 23 January 1978) is a Slovenian motorcycle speedway rider. Career Štojs was a member of the Slovenia team at the 2002 and 2003 Speedway World Cups. He started in the 2003 Speedway Grand Prix of Slovenia and 2016 Speedway Grand Prix of Slovenia as a wild card. Patryk Dudek (; born 20 June 1992) is a Polish motorcycle speedway rider who is a member of the Poland national speedway team, Polish national speedway team. Career Dudek's father, Sławomir Dudek, Sławomir, was a professional rider and Patryk gained his speedway licence in 2008. Dudek won 2009 and 2010 Team Speedway Junior European Championship, Team U-19 European Champion and 2009 Individual Speedway Junior Polish Championship, 2009 Individual Under-21 Polish Champion titles. Christopher Calvin Harris (born 28 November 1982) from Truro, Cornwall, nicknamed ''Bomber'', is a Great Britain international motorcycle speedway rider from England. Career history Early career Harris began his racing career at the age of six and a half by competing in grasstrack events. Peter Kildemand (born 1 September 1989) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Denmark and was a member of the Danish national team. He is a two-time Speedway Grand Prix winner. Career Kildemand started riding in Britain for Workington Comets in 2010 and 2011, before signing for Coventry Bees mid-way through the 2011 season. He was a member of the Swindon Robins 2012 Elite League Championship winning team and was named "Rider of the Year" for the club at the end of the season.
