2016 Peruvian Segunda División
The 2016 Segunda División season, also known as Copa Best Cable Perú 2016 for sponsorship reasons, was the 71st edition of the second tier of Federación Peruana de Futbol. The tournament was played on a home-and-away round-robin basis. The season started on 23 April 2016. The fixtures were announced on 12 April 2016. Teams A total of 16 teams in the league, 4 more than the previous season, including 9 sides from the 2015 season, two relegated from the 2015 Torneo Descentralizado and five promoted from the 2015 Copa Perú. The 2016 season was the first one were former Copa Sudamericana winners Cienciano were competing outside of the top tier since 1974. Sport Loreto was relegated to the Segunda Division after one year in the top tier. León de Huánuco refused to play in the 2016 Segunda Division and was relegated to the 2016 Copa Perú. The Liga 2 (Ligue 2) of Peru is the second-highest division in the Peruvian football league system. It is a professional and promotional division organized by the Peruvian Football Federation. After years of changing numbers of clubs, as of 2021 the league includes 12 clubs. History The format of the Second Division has changed over the years. For decades after it was first formed in 1936, only clubs from the Department of Lima participated in the annual tournament. Sport Loreto
Sport Loreto is a local football institution located in Pucallpa, Peru. It was founded in 1939, and it will start playing in the first professional division in 2015. After the championship in Copa Peru 2014. Football is the most played sport, although there are other local sport as Volleyball that also participates in the National Championships. Deportivo Coopsol is a Peruvian football club, playing in the city of Chancay District, Huaral, Lima. The club was founded in 1964 under their original name Club Deportivo Seman-FAP (Fuerza Aérea del Perú). Later in 1999 the club's name was changed to Aviación-FAP. Then in 2001 they were known as Deportivo Aviación. Finally in 2009 they changed to their current name ''Deportivo Coopsol''. Club Social Deportivo y Cultural Alianza Universidad de Huánuco, popularly known as Alianza Universidad is a Peruvian association football club, playing in the city of Huánuco. History The club was founded as Alianza Huánuco on January 1, 1939. Club Sport Áncash is a Peruvian football club, playing in the city of Huaraz. Sport Áncash was founded on April 22, 1967. The team plays its home games at Rosas Pampa stadium.
