2015–16 Rotherham United F.C. Season
The 2015–16 season was Rotherham United's 91st season in their existence and the second consecutive season in the Championship. Last season, Rotherham secured their place in this season's championship with a 21st-placed finish, 5 points from the relegation zone. Along with competing in the Championship, the club also participated in the FA Cup, at which they entered in the third round, and League Cup. Key events On 8 July 2015, Eric Black was appointed first-team coach, after leaving Wigan Athletic at the end of the previous season. On 23 July 2015, it was revealed that defender Kirk Broadfoot had been given a 10-game ban for the start of the upcoming season due to sectarian abuse. The incident occurred on 14 March 2015 in a home encounter against Wigan Athletic, where he was deemed by an FA tribunal to have made sectarian comments about Wigan's James McClean. Rotherham ( ) is a market town in South Yorkshire, England. It lies at the confluence of the River Rother, South Yorkshire, River Rother, from which the town gets its name, and the River Don, Yorkshire, River Don. Kevin Blackwell
Kevin Patrick Blackwell (born 21 December 1958) is an English professional football manager, executive and former player who is currently the technical director of Ekstraklasa club Lechia Gdańsk. Playing career Blackwell was born in Luton and began his football career as an apprentice at Cambridge United, with Ron Atkinson as his manager. After failing to make the grade at the Abbey Stadium, he moved into Non-League football, playing for Bedford Town while working as a bricklayer. He later played in the 1978 FA Vase final for Barton Rovers and for Middlesex Wanderers before being signed by Barnet. In 1980, he moved to Boston United for a fee of £5,000, saving a penalty at Wembley in the 1985 FA Trophy final. Andy Liddell
Andrew "Andy" Mark Liddell (born 28 June 1973) is a former professional footballer who played as a right winger. Born in England, he played for the Scotland U21 national team. Career Early career Born in Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire, Liddell started his league career at Barnsley, making his début as a substitute against Portsmouth in 1992. He helped his team achieve promotion to the Premiership in 1997. Liddell played a part in a significant moment during Barnsley's Premier League season. Nicky Eaden
Nicholas Jeremy Eaden (born 12 December 1972) is an English football coach and former professional footballer, he is a senior professional development coach at EFL League One side Barnsley. As a player he was as a full-back who accumulated 550 appearances in the Football League. He was part of the Barnsley team who played in the Premier League during the 1997–98 season. Andrew John Hughes (born 2 January 1978) is an English former footballer and the current set piece coach for club Leicester City. Known for his versatility, his main position is as a central midfielder, but he also played regularly at fullback during his career. Hughes played over 100 games for each of Notts County, Reading and Leeds United. Playing career Hughes began his career at Oldham Athletic making 44 appearances scoring once before joining Notts County, where he made 130 appearances scoring 18 times. Greg Halford
Gregory Halford (born 8 December 1984) is an English footballer who plays for Northern Premier League East club Bishop Auckland on loan from Blyth Spartans. He is naturally a right-back or centre-back but can play in numerous positions including central midfield, right midfield and even as a striker. Born in Chelmsford, Halford began his career with Colchester United where he came through the youth system before moving to Reading in 2007. His stay at Reading was a short one and Halford transferred to Sunderland later the same year. Lee Frecklington
Lee Craig Frecklington (born 8 September 1985) is a former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Frecklington's came through the youth academy at home town club Lincoln City, he spent time on loan with Lincoln United and Stamford before going on to make 127 league appearances, scoring 21 goals. He was part of the Imps team that missed out on promotion to League One during the 2005–06 season. In 2009 he joined Peterborough United, later moving to Rotherham United in 2013 where he scored 26 times in 157 appearances, twice being promoted to the EFL Championship. He returned to Lincoln in 2017 and won the EFL Trophy and the 2019 League Two title. He retired in October 2021 after a brief spell with Non-League side Frickley Athletic. James McClean
James Joseph McClean (born 22 April 1989) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a winger for club Wrexham. McClean began his career with Trojans, Institute, and Derry City of his hometown. He signed for Sunderland in England's Premier League in 2011 and moved to Wigan Athletic in August 2013.
