2015 E3 Harelbeke
The 2015 E3 Harelbeke was the 58th edition of the E3 Saxo Bank Classic, E3 Harelbeke cycling race, which took place on 27 March and was the sixth race of the 2015 UCI World Tour. The defending champion was Peter Sagan (), who won the 2014 E3 Harelbeke, 2014 edition in a four-man sprint. The race, while important in its own right as part of the Spring Classic (cycling), spring classics season, was seen as an important part of riders' preparation for the 2015 Tour of Flanders, one of the cycling monuments that took place on many of the same roads the following week. E3 Harelbeke took place on roads in Flanders, starting and ending in the town of Harelbeke. The primary difficulty in the race was the series of short climbs known as ''hellingen'', some of which were Cobbled classics, cobbled; most of these came in the middle part of the race, with a fairly flat final part. The 2015 UCI World Tour was the seventh edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009. The series started with the opening stage of the 2015 Tour Down Under, Tour Down Under on 20 January, and concluded with 2015 Il Lombardia, Il Lombardia on 4 October. For the second successive year, Spain's Alejandro Valverde won the World Tour individual points title, amassing 675 points over the course of the season. Harelbeke (; ) is a municipality and city located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the city of Harelbeke proper and the towns of Bavikhove and Hulste. The 2013 Tour of Flanders was the 97th edition of the Tour of Flanders single-day cycling race, known as one of the Monument classics. It was held on 31 March 2013 over a distance of from Bruges to Oudenaarde, and was the eighth race of the 2013 UCI World Tour season.
