2015 BC Lions Season
The 2015 BC Lions season was the 58th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 62nd overall. The Lions qualified for the playoffs for the 19th straight year, but lost the West Semi-Final game to the Calgary Stampeders. This was the team's first and only season under new head coach, Jeff Tedford, former head coach at California, and the 13th under general manager Wally Buono. For the sixth consecutive season, the Lions held their training camp at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops, British Columbia, with rookie camp beginning Wednesday, May 27, and main camp beginning on Sunday, May 31. Due to scheduling conflicts with the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, the Lions' home pre-season game was played at Thunderbird Stadium on the main campus of the University of British Columbia. Canadian Football League West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the West Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The five teams in the West Division are the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Ese Mrabure-Ajufo
Ese Mrabure-Ajufo (born December 5, 1992) is a Canadian football defensive lineman who is currently a member of the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played CIS football for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. Early career Mrabure-Ajufo played high school football in his senior year at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Secondary School. From 2011 to 2014, he played university football for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. He recorded 50 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery. He was an OUA second-team all-star in his senior year. Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are a professional Canadian football team based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They are currently members of the East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The Tiger-Cats play their home games at Tim Hortons Field. In 1950, the Tigers merged with cross-town upstart Hamilton Wildcats and adopted the name "Tiger-Cats". Seydou Junior Haïdara (born March 5, 1989) is a former professional Canadian football wide receiver. After the 2012 CIS season, he was ranked as the 11th best player in the Canadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau final rankings for players eligible in the 2013 CFL Draft, and seventh by players in Canadian Interuniversity Sport. 2015 CFL Draft
The 2015 CFL Draft took place on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 8:00 PM ET on TSN2 and RDS2. 62 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. For the first time since the 2006 CFL Draft, an NCAA player was drafted first overall, with Alex Mateas from the University of Connecticut being selected with the top pick. Six offensive linemen were drafted in the first round, which broke the previous record of five in the 1987 CFL Draft. A total of 44 CIS football players were selected in the draft with the Calgary Dinos earning the most selected players with seven, including two within the first three picks. 13 trades were made involving 15 draft picks, with all of the trades occurring before the draft. Kevin Glenn, Jr. (born June 12, 1979) is a former American professional Canadian football quarterback. He was originally signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) as an undrafted free agent in 2001. Jason Arakgi (born May 12, 1985) is a former Canadian football Linebacker for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played CIS football for the McMaster Marauders. Professional career Arakgi was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2008 CFL Draft by the BC Lions. He made the active roster in his rookie year and played in all 18 regular season games and made an immediate impact on special teams as he recorded 32 special teams tackles in his first year.
