2015 AFC Asian Cup
The 2015 AFC Asian Cup was the 16th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international association football, football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). It was held in Australia from 9 to 31 January 2015. The tournament was won by Australia men's national soccer team, Australia after defeating South Korea national football team, South Korea 2–1 Overtime (sports)#Association football, in extra time in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup Final, final, thereby earning the right to participate in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, which was hosted by Russia. The win was Australia's first Asian title since their move from the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) in 2006. Ali Ahmed Mabkhout Mohsen Imran Al Hajeri (; born 5 October 1990) is an Emirati professional association football, footballer who plays as a forward (association football), forward for UAE Pro League club Al-Nasr SC (Dubai), Al-Nasr and the United Arab Emirates national football team, United Arab Emirates national team. Oceania Football Confederation
The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) is one of the six continental confederations of international association football. The OFC has 13 members, 11 of which are full members and two which are associate members not affiliated with FIFA. It promotes the game in Oceania and allows the member nations to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. OFC is predominantly made up of island nations where association football is not the most popular sport, with low GDP and low population meaning very little money is generated by the OFC nations. 2010 AFC Women's Asian Cup
The 2010 AFC Women's Asian Cup was held from 19–30 May at the Chengdu Sports Centre in China PR. The winners, Australia, runners-up, Korea DPR, and third-place team, Japan qualified for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. With this victory, Australia women's had become the first ever national team to win in two different confederations, having won the OFC Women's Nations Cup three times before. 2004 OFC Nations Cup
The 2004 OFC Nations Cup was the edition of the tournament for the OFC Nations Cup and doubled as the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification (OFC), qualification tournament to the 2006 FIFA World Cup, except the two-legged final. A separate playoff between Australia and Solomon Islands national football team, Solomon Islands was held in September 2005, for World Cup Qualifying purposes. The competition was divided in two Group stages (the first is the Qualifying Stage), with Australia men's national soccer team, Australia and New Zealand men's national football team, New Zealand seeded into the second stage (Final Stage). 2000 OFC Nations Cup
The 2000 OFC Nations Cup was held in Papeete, Tahiti. The six participating teams were Australia and New Zealand who qualified as of right, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu who qualified from the Melanesia Cup, the Cook Islands and Tahiti who qualified from the Polynesia Cup. Australia beat New Zealand 2–0 in the final. The Solomon Islands beat Vanuatu 2–1 for third place.
