2014 World Lacrosse Championship
The 2014 World Lacrosse Championship was held July 10–19 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park outside Denver, Colorado. 38 nations played 142 games in this international men's lacrosse championship tournament organized by the Federation of International Lacrosse. Nine nations—Belgium, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Israel, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, and Uganda—all competed in the event for the first time. In the championship game on July 19, Canada captured its third gold medal by upsetting the United States 8–5 in front of 11,861 fans. Canadian goalie Dillon Ward was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after he made 10 saves in the championship game, becoming the first goalie to ever receive the honor. Dick's Sporting Goods Park
Dick's Sporting Goods Park, also known as DSG Park, is a soccer-specific stadium in Commerce City, Colorado, that is home to the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer (MLS). The stadium seats up to 18,061 people for soccer matches, but can accommodate up to 19,734 for special soccer events and 27,000 for concerts. Miles Thompson
Miles Thompson (born December 8, 1990) is a Haudenosaunee professional lacrosse player from the Hawk Clan of the Onondaga Nation. He played for the University at Albany in NCAA Division I college lacrosse and plays for the Georgia Swarm in the National Lacrosse League and Chaos Lacrosse Club in the Premier Lacrosse League. He shared the 2014 Tewaaraton Trophy with his brother Lyle. During that year, that attack line consisting of those two and their cousin, Ty Thompson, dubbed the "Thompson Trio", shattered multiple NCAA Division 1 records, and is widely considered one of the greatest attack lines in college lacrosse history. Jeremy Thompson (born January 3, 1987 (age 38)) is a Iroquois#People, Haudenosaunee professional lacrosse player from the Onondaga_people#Clan_System, Hawk Clan of the Onondaga Reservation, Onondaga Nation. He plays for the Georgia Swarm of the National Lacrosse League, and the Atlas Lacrosse Club, Atlas of Premier Lacrosse League. Rob Pannell (born December 11, 1989) is an American professional lacrosse player who plays for the Carolina Chaos of the Premier Lacrosse League. He played college lacrosse at Cornell University. He is one of the top leading scorers in men's Division I lacrosse history. He currently holds the Cornell career points record and assists record. He was the Ivy League's first ever three-time Player of the Year award winner. Kevin Leveille (born August 18, 1981) is an American former professional lacrosse player from Delmar, New York. Prior to his retirement in 2014, Leveille played professionally for the Boston Cannons, Chicago Machine, and Rochester Rattlers. He played college lacrosse at UMass Amherst.
