The Redditch Borough Council elections of 2014 were held on Thursday 22 May, on the same day as the European elections. One third of the Borough was up for re-election. Redditch Borough Council
Redditch Borough Council is the local authority covering the non-metropolitan district centred on the town of Redditch. History The town of Redditch was governed by a local board of health from 1858 until 1894, when such local boards were reformed to become urban district councils. The urban district in turn was abolished in 1974 and replaced by a non-metropolitan district council covering the same area as the former urban district, but with different powers and responsibilities. The Redditch district was awarded borough status on 15 May 1980, changing the council's name to Redditch Borough Council and allowing the chair of the council to take the title of mayor. Political control In 2022 the Conservative Party held control of the council. 2014 European Parliament Election In The United Kingdom
The 2014 European Parliament election was the United Kingdom's component of the 2014 European Parliament election, held on Thursday 22 May 2014, coinciding with the 2014 local elections in England and Northern Ireland. In total, 73 Members of the European Parliament were elected from the United Kingdom using proportional representation. England, Scotland and Wales use a closed-list party list system of PR (with the D'Hondt method), while Northern Ireland used the single transferable vote (STV). Most of the election results were announced after 10pm on Sunday 25 May – with the exception of Scotland, which did not declare its results until the following day – after voting closed throughout the 28 member states of the European Union. Astwood Bank
Astwood Bank is a district within Redditch. Astwood Bank is near the Warwickshire - Worcestershire border, near villages such as Studley, Sambourne, Callow Hill, Feckenham, and Cookhill. Astwood Bank is noted for its successful cricket team, who have twice played at Lord's in the National Village Knock Out Final. The A441 Evesham Road is the main trunk road through Astwood Bank from Redditch. Astwood Bank has an annual carnival. The carnival has been a big part of the village for over 30 years. Feckenham
Feckenham is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Redditch in Worcestershire, England. It lies some south-west of the town of Redditch and some east of the city of Worcester. It had a population of 670 in the 2001 census and its immediate area is the location of notable royal manors that cover over 1,000 years of English history documented in many royal charters and Acts of Parliament. Redditch is a town and local government district in north-east Worcestershire, England. The town is divided into separate districts. All street-name signs in Redditch have the street name in white lettering on a blue background and the district name in black lettering on a white background at the bottom of the sign. Redditch Borough Council Elections
Redditch Borough Council elections are held three years out of every four, with a third of the council elected each time. Redditch Borough Council is the local authority for the non-metropolitan district of Redditch in Worcestershire, England. Since the last boundary changes in 2004, 29 councillors are elected from 12 wards. Political control From 1894 to 1974 the town of Redditch was governed by an urban district council. Under the Local Government Act 1972 Redditch became a non-metropolitan district, retaining the same boundaries as the old urban district, but with significantly different powers. The first elections to the new council were held in 1973, initially operating as a shadow authority before coming into its powers on 1 April 1974.
