2014 Northern Ireland Local Elections
Local elections were held in Northern Ireland on Thursday 22 May 2014, contesting 462 seats in all, as part of the wider 2014 United Kingdom local elections, local elections across the United Kingdom. The election took place on the same day as the 2014 European Parliament election in the United Kingdom, European Parliament election. 1,243,649 people aged 18 and over were eligible to vote, and 51.3% of the electorate turned out. Newry, Mourne and Down District Council (Irish language, Irish: ''Comhairle Ceantair an Iúir, Mhúrn agus an Dúin'') is a local authority in Northern Ireland that was established on 1 April 2015. Lisburn and Castlereagh is a local government district in Northern Ireland. The district was created on 1 April 2015. It consists of the combined area of the City of Lisburn with the Borough of Castlereagh, but not including "the localities of Gilnahirk, Tullycarnet, Braniel, Castlereagh, Merok, Cregagh, Wynchurch, Glencregagh and Belvoir, Collin Glen, Poleglass, Lagmore, Twinbrook, Kilwee and Dunmurry" which transferred to Belfast.
